• Funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) BuildForce – the History: 2014/15 - 2017
2014/15: London pilot with Construction Youth Trust focused on work placements and adding value to existing initiatives.
2017: Part-funded by CITB Structured and Flexible Funds
Working towards becoming a sustainable organisation. Why BuildForce?
• £100bn into infrastructure by 2021 through the National Infrastructure Delivery Plan
• Commitments to a £2.3bn housing infrastructure fund, to build 100,000 new homes and £1.4bn to fund 40,000 affordable homes.
• More than six in ten recruitment agencies (63 per cent) say that demand for temporary construction workers has increased over the last year.
• Seven in ten (69 per cent) say that the shortage of skills is now the first or second most significant risk to their business. (Recruitment & Employment Federation)
The real ticking ‘time bomb’ is that of the industry’s workforce size and demographic. Based purely on existing workforce age and current levels of new entrant attraction, we could see a 20-25% decline in the available labour force within a decade. ‘Modernise or Die’, Mark Farmer, October 2016
