The buildings of phase two follow a series of simple rules to articulate the canal environment in terms of form and life. Six pavilion buildings mark the corners of the site, and have a distinct saw-tooth roofline that makes reference to the neighbouring wharf architecture. Each pavilion has an elevation animated by generous loggia balconies, which orient the building toward its key aspect, and provide high quality sheltered external spaces that extend the flow of the open-plan living rooms within. Six townhouses with their garden walls and porches reference the nearby Butts Conservation Area, presenting oak finished individual front doors to the street and a landscaped buffer zone.

We have taken a simple, yet robust attitude towards detailing, using a limited palette of materials – principally facing brickwork to sit in harmony alongside the phase one buildings, together with pre-cast and in-situ cast concrete, painted metalwork, composite decking and render panels, that modulate the building facades providing depth and character.
