Evan Osnos “The future of US - Relations”

Will our Trade War with China turn into a Cold War? - or a Hot War? What is the future of Hong Kong and Taiwan? How secure is ’s position as President of The People’s Republic of China? Why do the Chinese people tolerate their government monitoring their every move and controlling virtually all aspects of their daily lives? Is China interfering in our Presidential Election, and, if so, what is their goal? Is the Chinese government coordinating an effort to steal our intellectual property, including our research on a vaccine for Covid-19? These questions and more will be addressed in our interview on September 2.

Evan Osnos is a staff writer at and a fellow at the Brookings Institution. Based in Washington DC, he covers politics and foreign affairs. In recent years, he has chronicled Donald Trump’s presidency, profiled Mark Zuckerberg and , and visited North Korea during the nuclear crisis. He is the author of the forthcoming book, “Wildland: The Making of America’s Fury” (September 2021). Osnos often writes about China, where he lived from 2005 to 2013. That experience was the subject of his book “Age of Ambition: Chasing Fortune, Truth, and Faith in the New China,” which traces the rise of the individual in China, and the clash between aspiration and authoritarianism. The book won the 2014 National Book Award for nonfiction and was a finalist for the . Before his appointment in China, he worked in the covering the and reported from , , , , and elsewhere. He is a frequent guest on television and radio.

Born in , when his parents were visiting from Moscow, where his father was assigned as a correspondent for , Evan and his family moved to Greenwich in 1986. Evan graduated from Greenwich High School in 1994 and magna cum laude from Harvard in 1998.
