Dear King Students and Families,
Rufus King High School will be virtually hosting Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, October 20 from 3:50 pm to 7:35 pm and Wednesday, October 21 from 3:50 pm to 7:35 pm. In this document, you will find the following information:
• Infinite Campus Parent Portal Information to access your student’s schedule, grades, and Quarter 1 Snapshot Report Card are snapshot of where the student is at this time. o Students still have time to improve their grades.
• How to sign up for Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences using Google Appointments o We are encouraging families to sign up in advance for our Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences. You will need to use a Gmail account, if you do not have a Gmail account you can use your students’ MPS Email to sign up. o You will find a list of teachers, by department, on pages 5-7. When you click on the teachers name you will be directed to a Google Appointment page. Find the date and time slot that works for you!

1 How to Sign Up for a Virtual Parent-Teacher Conference Appointment ● NOTE: In order to access Parent-Teacher Conference Appointments, parents must have a Google Account. If you do not have a Google Account, please use your student’s MPS Account. If you are using your student’s MPS-issued Chromebook, it will default to their student Google Account.
Part 1: Signing Up for a Parent-Teacher Conference Appointment with a Staff Member 1. Identify what staff member you would like to meet with. a. If you do not know the name of a teacher, please look at your student’s schedule on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Directions on how to access the Infinite Campus Parent Portal can be found on the attached flyer.
2. Click on the Staff Member’s Name from the tables on pages 5-7 of this document.
3. If you are not already signed into a Google account, you will need to sign in. If you do not have a Google Account, please use your student’s MPS Account.
2 4. A calendar will appear after you log in. Change the date to the week of Oct 18 - 24, 2020
5. Select what date and time you would like to attend a Virtual Parent-Teacher Conference with the teacher by clicking on the time you prefer. ● Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Tuesday, October 20 from 3:50 p.m. to 7:35 p.m. and Wednesday, October 21 from 3:50 p.m. to 7:35 p.m.
6. Book an appointment will show up on your screen. In the description, please enter your student’s first and last name and your first and last name. Click Save.
3 7. Your Virtual Parent-Teacher Conference Appointment has been booked for the teacher you selected. To view the Google Meet link for your appointment, please click “View / edit in Google Calendar.”
Part 2: Accessing your Virtual Parent-Teacher Conference Appointment and the Google Meet Link 1. You will receive an email with your confirmed appointment. This email will be sent to the email address you create the appointment with. ● NOTE: If you used your student’s MPS account to create the appointment, no email confirmation will be sent. This is due to a discrepancy between Google Calendar and the student’s Microsoft Outlook email. The appointment will be on the student’s Google Calendar. ● On the date and time of the Parent- Teacher Conference, you will click on the Google Meet Link to meet with the teacher.
2. Another way to view the appointment, is to go to your Google Calendar. Click on the calendar event and then “Join with Google Meet.”
Part 3: Book Appointments with your student’s other Classroom Teachers 1. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for each of your student’s teachers that you would like to have a conference with.
