I purchased the New American Bible in MP3 format and loaded it on my 80GB IPOD. The Old Testament is not included, but all of the other books in the Catholic Cannon are included. The narration is well done and adds a great deal of drama compared to reading the Bible text yourself. There is a small amount of scared music between books and chapters which also is a plus. The narrative is unabridged which I insist on when I purchase an audiobook. All-in-all a great value for the cost!!
I have literally all the audio bibles and this one is my favourite. Read at a good pace and the readers voice is very smooth and easy to hear even for many hours. I love it. Came back online to buy 2 more sets.
Of all the Audio Bibles I have listened to so far, this has been by far my favorite. The narrator, Buck Ford, has a great voice, good inflection and does not become tedious. It is great to listen to as you read along in an NAB version of the Bible. I wish that Ford would do the Old Testament as well. Eric Martin does an excellent narration of the enitre NAB version of the Bible - the only one I have been able to find, but I prefer Ford's voice. I also wish Ford would do the Revised Standard Version, my favorite version of the Bible. Definitely money well spent and will help me introduce my children to the Bible.
This audio book is a nice version for Catholics. I have listened to it several times. The problem with this product is that the printed labels on the CD's do not match the content of the CD. So, if you are looking for a specific book and chapter, you see that item printed on the label, but when you go to the track listed on the label, it is a totally different book/chapter. I have been in contact with Oasis Audio for over 2 years on this issue, and the only response I keep getting is that it will be fixed in the "next run". Well, I even helped them find all the incorrect printed labels, they did another production run and they sent me a new copy. However, the new copy was wrong too. They refuse to fix the problem until all of the current production run have been purchased. SO...... buyer beware.
This is very helpful and clear. It is a great help to my studies at this time. i am so pleased to have the bible on cd so that i may listen to it while i drive to and from work.... it gives me great comfort
I have enjoyed listening to this version of the Bible on CD. It has been easy to follow, and the narrator is easy to understand. I have listened to it on my way to work and on my way home to try to remind me of what is really important after a stressful day at work. I believe it works! It is nice to listen to instead of the radio DJs rambling about nothing. I feel like I actually did something useful with my time as I make my commute in the car and traffic - not to mention it can help when you have thoughts of road-rage!
When I work on the computer at work, I put my headphones and listen to this. Not only do I tune out the hub-bub at work, I feel a greater sense of power and wellness. I don't think it is the short musical interlude at the beginning of each CD. No, I think it is the power of the words themselves. Liberals tend to categorize Jesus as some peace-loving hippy who never cut his hair. Once you get to know the New Testament in its entirety, you see that liberals have once again twisted the words of the prophet. Don't fall for the propaganda. Listen to the words yourself. You might just find that inner peace.
