ST. JULIANA FALCONIERI SCHOOL JUNE 2017 Vice Principal’s Message

Happy June!!

It is hard to believe that the 2016-2017 school year is almost at an end. Summer is fast approaching, but we are still very busy with school happenings. The 8th Grade Graduation Mass is Thursday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m. Eighth Graduation is on Friday, June 2 at 3:30 p.m. and our Kindergarten Graduation is also on Friday at 9:00 a.m. Our final school Mass is Wednesday, June 7 at 8:00 a.m. The last day of school is Thursday, June 8 with dismissal at 10:30 a.m.

The first day of school for the 2017-2018 school year is Monday, August 21. We will host our “Meet & Greet” on Wednesday, August 16 from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. in the Parish Center. You will have an opportunity to meet the classroom and auxiliary teachers, as well as pick up your monthly packet. We ask that you return all pertinent information to school on the first day of school with your child.

Thank you for your attendance at Spring Sing. The children sang their songs so beautifully and were very enthusiastic with their physical prompts. Our Eighth Grade students acted out their scenes flawlessly and were on cue with their introductions. Thank you to Mrs. Thielke, the students, and the teachers for an amazing show.

Thank you so much for your generosity during Teacher Appreciation Week. The breakfast, lunch, notes, and treats were very much appreciated. Finally, I wish to thank all of you for a wonderful school year. Thank you for entrusting your children to us. They are kind and caring and make coming to work each day a pleasure.

Problem of the month. In the combined sixth grade class, 14 out of 56 students walk to school. What percent of the students walk to school?

Happy Calculating, Mrs. Janet Donnelly

Spiritual Affairs – Mrs. Colleen Martinez

I want to close the school year and my two years in service as Spiritual liaison by saying, "Thank you!!!" I feel this gift has helped me to grow more in my own spirituality. What a blessing from God this has been! I must say that I knew nothing about budgeting and fundraising, but have learned a lot. (Probably more than I wanted to in that area.)

I pray that all of you can find at least 5 minutes in front of our Blessed Sacrament in Adoration. I promise if you give God 5 minutes, He will give so much more in return. It's always on the first Tuesday of the month in the church and the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for 24 hours. You do not have to sign up to go, but feel free to sign up if you are able. Have your children bring a notebook and they can draw pictures or journal about what Jesus is saying to them as they listen in silence. Believe it or not, Adoration is very peaceful. If you are unable to attend at our church, St. Martin de Porres in Yorba Linda has 24 hour daily Adoration in the chapel. St. Angela Merici in Brea has it, as well.

Finally, I want to sadly say goodbye to all the 8th grade families. We will miss you and wish you many Blessings. Please have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing summer. I'm leaving you with a favorite prayer.

Blessings, Colleen Martinez

10 Things God Wants You To Remember:

I will strengthen you. I will provide for you. I will answer you. I will be with you. I will give you rest. I will bless you. I will not fail you. I believe in you. I am for you. I love you.

Student Council News

Student Council this year has been busy with many projects, activities, and celebrations. The school has donated food for St. Vincent de Paul. They have celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, as well as each classroom’s Saint Day. The Living Rosary was recited in October. Red Ribbon Week, Veterans Day Program, Movie Night, St. Nicholas Day, Rice bowls during Lent, as well as a few social events have rounded out our calendar. The students campaigned and the 4th-7th grade voted on our new student council board for next year.

Pep rallies and introduction of seasonal sports teams has kept the Commissioners of busy. Commissioners of Publicity have maintained the monthly bulletin board in the breezeway. Commissioners of Safety have given us a safety tip each Friday, a cyber safety tip of the month, as well as maintaining carpool safety. Commissioners of Athletics make daily sports announcements and read the Joke of the Day. Commissioners of Finance have counted our proceeds from bake sales, as well as working on Rice Bowls. Commissioners of Religious Affairs have raised and lowered the flags daily, given us a weekly bible quote, as well as leading us in morning and afternoon prayer. Secretary Commissioners have taken role and recorded minutes for meetings. Commissioner General and Assistant Commissioner General have led the school in activities and meetings, planned functions, led flag assembly and morning prayers, as well as any other activities. Our S/C music leader has led us in patriotic songs each Monday morning. Commissioner of Elections made sure everyone running for a Student Council position was ready to campaign and ran the election.

Student Council Class Representatives have kept the classrooms informed of current and future activities. Grades TK, K and 1 are represented by students from grades 7 and 8. Grades 2, 3, 4, & 5 class reps are chosen by the class and reps for grades 6, 7, and 8 apply for the position in September. Student Council for 2017-2018 meets once during the summer to plan the next school year’s activities.

As moderators, Mrs. Rodriguez and Mrs. Molina, we are proud of our students that lead our school. Their energy, ideas, determination, creativity, and willingness to complete anything they are asked to do make our Student Council what it is and our school a wonderful, fun, happy place to come to each school day.

We wish you many Blessings, Mrs. Rodriguez Mrs. Molina
