DAY TO DAY ITINERARY MOSCOW-ST. PETERSBURG, MARCH 13-20, 2013 (under construction)
Wednesday, Mar 13 – Depart from Boston Overnight flight.
Thursday, Mar 14 – Moscow Arrive in Moscow. Transfer to Marriott Moscow Tverskaya. This evening your Tour Manager will introduce you to one of the most efficient and beautiful Metros in the world. Dinner at the hotel is included.
Friday, Mar 15 – Moscow Our day begins with an early entrance to The Kremlin. You will have a chance to visit the Armoury and cathedrals (there are four inside the Kremlin walls, including ancient Dormition Cathedral, the mother church of Muscovite Russia where all the tsars were crowned) before they open to the public. Then a day of sightseeing allows you to contrast old and modern Moscow. Lenin’s Tomb lies in the shadow of gorgeous St. Basil’s Cathedral while Tsarist palaces are intermingled with instruments of the communist state in Dzerzhinsky Square. At Red Square, you can visit the historic merchants’ quarter and the famous GUM department store. And finally, see the Novodevichy Convent, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Saturday, Mar 16 – Moscow This morning we will head for the hills – Sparrow Hills – to view the city from one of the highest points in Moscow. After lunch, we’ll visit the Tolstoy House Museum and later we’ll explore the Old Arbat, the most famous street in Moscow.
Sunday, Mar 17 – Moscow Golden Mask Theatre Festival and Double Edge Theatre’s international premiere of The Grand Parade (of the Twentieth Century). Conversation with John Freedman, drama critic for the Moscow Times.
Monday, Mar 18 – St. Petersburg After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the train station to take the high speed Sapsan train to St. Petersburg. Check into Radisson Sonya Hotel. After lunch we’ll visit the Peter and Paul Fortress, built by Peter the Great to secure Russia's outlet to the sea.
Tuesday, Mar 19 – St. Petersburg Awake in one of the most beautiful cities in the world! After breakfast at the hotel, sightseeing includes the Hermitage, one of the oldest (1764) and largest art museums in the world and the Winter Palace. Dinner at the hotel included.
Wednesday, Mar 20, 2013 – Return to Boston After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to St. Petersburg for return flight to Boston.
