Virtual Social Impact Internships | | | Vietnam

Course Description GEI Virtual Social Impact Internships offer undergraduate and graduate students theunique opportunity to engage in GEI’s social impact projects in Mental Health, Maternal & Newborn Health, Education, and Economic Empowerment.

You will join a multicultural and multidisciplinary team that carries out concrete project and research tasks. The internship is further enriched with topical introduction modules that focus on key SDGs and their application in Africa and Asia; interdisciplinary workshops on cultural intelligence, storytelling, and career development; rich local and intercultural activities; and assignments.

Custom Internship: - Start dates: flexible - Duration: flexible (min 4 weeks) - Fees: US $795 + US $75 for each additional week

GEI Social Impact Engagement Areas

Mental Health & Wellbeing We operate mHubs (mental health hubs) in Rwanda, Kenya, and South Africa that aim to improve access to quality mental health and wellbeing services and to reduce stigmatization.

Maternal & Newborn Health We work with regional health systems, health centers, and communities in Vietnam, Kenya, Rwanda to strengthen the delivery of quality maternal and newborn health care services.

Education We support education systems and educators in Rwanda and South Africa to provide high-quality transformative education and to enable students to contribute to a more sustainable, just, and peaceful world.

Economic Empowerment through Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship We work with rural communities in South Africa’s Western Cape to develop a sustainable employability readiness program that focuses on youth wellbeing and personal leadership development, skills and capacity building, and links with the broader formal economic sectors.

Enrollment Requirements Students should have already acquired a theoretical foundation and preferably a practical skill set in their discipline. To be eligible to apply for this course, students can be enrolled in any major and minor. Enrollment is generally reserved for juniors, seniors and graduate students, or by consent of the faculty sponsor. Professionals are welcome to apply for participation without credits.

What’s Included in the Course Fees • Internship placement • Pre-internship advising, and development of an internship plan and goals • Project- or research-based work to deepen understanding of topics in social impact and sustainable development • Virtual interdisciplinary training and cultural activities/immersion • Facilitated group reflection sessions • Final presentation, report, and essay to synthesize learning

Not included are potential academic credits available via our school of record.
