CONNECTING YOU TO THE WILDERNESS Whether on our existing circuit or on a sole use basis, Wilderness Air is ready and waiting to assist with flights between hubs and our camps in Botswana and Namibia. Likewise Governors Aviation in Kenya, with flights operating between the Governors’ properties in Kenya. Both Wilderness Air and our transfer division in Victoria Falls can provide air and road transfers respectively in the Zambezi Triangle – linking Livingstone, Victoria Falls and Kasane. Due to the phased reopening of camps and low guest numbers, Wilderness Air Zimbabwe will only recommence standard operations on 1 April 2021. Until 31 March 2021, guests will be transferred by road between Victoria Falls and our Hwange camps (or vice versa). From 1 April 2021, our Wilderness Air Zimbabwe circuit is available to book as per normal on seat rates. Thousand Hills Africa is fully operational in Rwanda, with guided private transfers linking Kigali, Magashi and Bisate Lodge. Governors Safaris Ltd can assist with transport arrangements in both Kenya and Rwanda. AIRLINES Subject to connection times between scheduled airlines and/or our Wilderness Air circuits, overnights may be required. Be aware that in the current climate, airlines may cancel or amalgamate flights to maximise the efficiency of their operation, which in turn may disrupt clients’ travel arrangements. Likewise, schedules may change at very short notice. Airlink currently has the most expansive network in southern Africa – https://www.flyairlink.com/flightschedule BOTSWANA Airlink is flying daily between Johannesburg and Gaborone. Subject to the day of the week, an overnight in Gaborone may be required, but further connections between Maun and Kasane are possible with Air Botswana. Air Botswana has increased frequencies between Gaborone and Johannesburg to 12 flights a week, and commenced the triangular Harare/Lusaka/Gaborone service will commence with flights on Thursdays and Saturdays. Airlink is operating direct flights between Johannesburg and Maun on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and between Johannesburg and Kasane on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Ethiopian Airlines has resumed flights between Addis Ababa and Gaborone, travelling via Victoria Falls, on a Tuesday and Saturday. Livingstone is another gateway with Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya Airways flying into Lusaka; an onward connection with Proflight to Livingstone; and Wilderness Air from Livingstone into Botswana. Road borders with Zimbabwe are now open, so it is possible to access Botswana via Zimbabwe, utilising road or air transfers between Victoria Falls and Kasane, and vice versa. KENYA Kenya Airways has resumed direct flights to New York. The flight departs Nairobi on Wednesdays and Saturdays, returning from New York on Thursdays and Sundays. The carrier has also resumed other international and regional routes, including London, Dubai, Addis Ababa, Kigali, Dar es Salaam and Lusaka. Kenya Airways also connects Nairobi with Cape Town, Harare, Johannesburg, Mombasa and Victoria Falls. RwandAir connects Nairobi and Kigali. Safarilink flies between Nairobi and Kilimanjaro Airport, and also Zanzibar. Auric Air connects the Masai Mara and Serengeti (via Kisumu and Musoma). Air Kenya are applying a minimum 2 or 4 pax ruling on some of their routings until business volumes return to an acceptable levels: Masai Mara Services will operate with a minimum of 2 pax The Northern services (Nanyuki, Samburu, Lewa Downs, Loisaba and Meru Service) will operate with a minimum of 4 pax Amboseli Service will operate with a minimum of 4 pax Kilimanjaro Service with a minimum of 4 pax Mara/Entebbe/Mara (via Kisumu service) will operate with a minimum of 4 pax MOZAMBIQUE Airlink is operating flights between Johannesburg and the following destinations: Maputo and Pemba, Wednesday and Friday Beira, Tuesday and Thursday Vilanculos, Tuesday and Saturday After the borders opened on 11 September, flights resumed with Qatar, Ethiopian, Kenya Airways, Turkish and LAM (Portugal & South Africa. NAMIBIA Airlink is flying daily between Windhoek and both Cape Town and Johannesburg. Airlink operates flights between Johannesburg and Walvis Bay on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Westair is operating flights between Windhoek and Cape Town on a Monday and Friday. Both Lufthansa and Ethiopian Airlines are flying into Windhoek. RWANDA RwandAir is flying to Cape Town via Harare, with flights operating on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. RwandAir is flying between Johannesburg and Kigali on a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. RwandAir is operating flights between Kigali and Dubai on a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and to London, via Brussels, on a Friday. RwandAir also has daily flights, except for Wednesday, between Kigali and Lusaka; and flights four times a week between Kigali and Nairobi, plus Kigali and Dar es Salaam via Kilimanjaro. KLM, Qatar, Turkish, Ethiopian and Egyptair are all flying into Kigali. SEYCHELLES Air Seychelles is currently operating flights between Mahe and Praslin, and internationally to Tel Aviv. British Airways from London, Emirates from Dubai and Ethiopian Airways from Addis Ababa have resumed operations. Kenya Airways, Qatar and Air Austral are scheduled to return during December. SOUTH AFRICA Qatar Airways are operating four weekly flights from South Africa (via Doha) – including Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town – to San Francisco. Virgin Atlantic are operating flights between Johannesburg and London on a Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 20 December will add Cape Town on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. KLM is flying six days a week between Amsterdam and Johannesburg, likewise between Amsterdam and Cape Town. Emirates has increased its frequency to 14 flights a week between Johannesburg and Dubai, and offers a double-daily schedule on the Johannesburg-Dubai route, with EK775 scheduled to fly via Durban on a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Singapore Airlines has resumed passenger flights between Singapore and Johannesburg. Lufthansa and SWISS have announced additional services to Johannesburg from December. These include five weekly flights between Johannesburg and Frankfurt, three weekly flights between Cape Town and Frankfurt, as well as three weekly services between Cape Town and Munich, all operated by Lufthansa. An additional two weekly flights will be offered between Cape Town and Zurich on Edelweiss, as well as two weekly flights between Cape Town and Vienna operated by Austrian Airlines. SWISS will also offer three weekly flights between Johannesburg and Zurich. British Airways flights from London to Johannesburg and Cape Town have resumed. Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines’ flights are via Johannesburg. Domestically Mango and FlySafair are already operating, with Kulala expected to resume operations in December. Currently Airlink has daily flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth. TANZANIA Airlink is flying between Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Auric Air connects Serengeti and Kigali. Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, KLM, SWISS and Ethiopian are all flying into Dar es Salaam. ZAMBIA Ethiopian Airlines is operating daily flights between Lusaka and Addis Ababa. Kenya Airways is operating daily flights, except for Tuesday, between Lusaka and Nairobi. Emirates has added another flight from Dubai to Lusaka, which continues to Harare, taking the total number of flights to three a week. Airlink is currently flying to Lusaka and Ndola, with Livingstone to follow in due course. Proflight is operating daily flights, except for Saturday, between Johannesburg and Lusaka. At the end of November, they plan to introduce a Saturday flight as well. Proflight will operate one flight a week between Johannesburg and Durban from late November, and add a second one in January 2021. Proflight operates a schedule between Lusaka and Livingstone on a Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. ZIMBABWE Fastjet is now operating flights between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. It is also currently operating five flights a day between Johannesburg and Harare and five flights a week between Johannesburg and Bulawayo. Airlink is operating daily flights between Johannesburg and Harare. RwandAir is operating flights between Kigali and Harare on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Except for Saturday, this same flight connects through to Cape Town. Emirates has added another flight from Dubai to Harare, via Lusaka, taking the total number of flights to three a week. Kenya Airways is operating flights between Nairobi and Cape Town, via Victoria Falls, on a Monday and Thursday.
