DAY 1 -THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28 • Board United Airlines Flight #120 departing Newark Liberty Airport at 7:20pm for our NON-STOP trip to Barcelona.

DAY 2 - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29 (L/D) • Arrive at Barcelona – Airport El Prat at 9:00am, gather our luggage and meet our coach and guide. • Enjoy an overview tour to get a general feel of Barcelona. Our guide will provide an sense of the city, giving you an idea of all the things to see: City center, Passeig de Gracia, Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, Port, Columbus Monument, Miramar Lookout, Joan Miro Foundation, Olympic Ring Stadiums, and . • Have your first “taste” of Barcelona at lunch before checking into our hotel, the H10 , Pas de Sota Muralla, 9, 08003 Barcelona. Opened in 2013, the hotel is located near the traditional marina, just a short distance from the picturesque Las Ramblas district. This 4-star superior hotel is housed in one of the city’s historic buildings, and features a minimalist, elegant interior design. You have some time to relax before we have our Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 3 - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30 (B/L/D) • Start your in depth exploration of the city of Barcelona after breakfast with a walking tour of the city’s Gothic Quarter. Our tour of the streets, squares and old buildings gives an insight into Barcelona’s history while it takes you right through the ancient heart of the city. Discover the development of a tiny Roman colony called Barcino into a wealthy medieval seafarer's and merchant's city called Barcelona. • Take a guided visit of the after lunch. The Picasso Museum has one of the most extensive collections of artworks by the 20th century Spanish artist . The museum is housed in five adjoining medieval palaces in Barcelona's La Ribera. This is one of the most popular and most visited museums in Barcelona.

• Continue the afternoon Palau de la Música Catalana. Built in 1908, the Palace of Catalan Music is one Barcelona’s most impressive architectural feats, renowned for its spectacularly ornate interiors. A striking Modernista redbrick façade marks the entrance to the building characterized by its intricate mosaics, colorful pillars and ornamental balcony. The interiors are even more impressive, with the lavishly decorated auditorium centered around an eye-catching stained glass skylight. • Enjoy the Plaza Mayor, Barcelona’s main square. • Dine tonight with the group.

DAY 4 - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 31 (B/D) • Enjoy breathtaking views of the Barcelona harbor from Montjuïc Park. Montjuïc means “Jewish Mountain” in Catalan. It is believed that before it was turned into the big park of today, there was a Jewish cemetery somewhere around the mountain. • Take a guided tour of the Fundació Joan Miró, Centre d'Estudis d'Art Contemporani (Joan Miró Foundation). This museum of modern art honoring Joan Miró is located on Montjuïc hill. In 1968 Miró formed the foundation with his friend Joan Prats. They wanted to create a new building that would encourage particularly younger artists to experiment with contemporary art. • Continue on to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. The National Art Museum of is housed in the built for the 1929 World's Fair, The museum is especially notable for its outstanding collection of Romanesque church paintings, and for Catalan art and design from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. • Spend a free afternoon enjoying lunch, relaxing and preparing for our festive New Year’s Eve Dinner and Entertainment. (TBA – We’re still putting together this gala evening.)

DAY 5 - MONDAY, JANUARY 1 (HAPPY NEW YEAR!) (B/L) • Visit Parque Güell a garden complex with architectural elements situated on the hill of El Carmel in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. Park Güell was commissioned by Eusebi Güell and designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Together they wanted to create a stylish park for Barcelona’s aristocracy. The park contains amazing stone structures, stunning tiling and fascinating buildings. • Prolong your Gaudi experience with a visit to La Sagrada Familia, one of his most famous works in Barcelona. This giant Basilica has been under construction since 1882 (that's not a typing error) and it's not expected to be completed for some time yet. It is Barcelona’s Number 1 tourist attraction. Describing Sagrada Família, art critic Rainer Zerbst said, "It is probably impossible to find a church building anything like it in the entire history of art" and Paul Goldberger describes it as, "The most extraordinary personal interpretation of Gothic architecture since the Middle Ages." • Conclude our Gaudi immersion after lunch with a visit to "Casa Milà", commonly known as "La Pedrera." A unique building, built between 1906 and 1912 and declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1984. • Travel back to the hotel. Dinner tonight is on your own.

DAY 6 – TUESDAY, JANUARY 2 (B/L/D) • Journey to Figueras, the home town of artist Salvador Dalí to visit the Dalí Theatre- Museum, the largest surrealistic object in the world. Dalí is buried there in a crypt below the stage. The Museum occupies the building of the former Municipal Theatre, a 19th century construction which was destroyed at the end of the Spanish Civil War. On its ruins, Dalí decided to create his museum. The museum displays the single largest and most diverse collection of works by the artist. “I want my museum to be a single block, a labyrinth, a great surrealist object. It will be a totally theatrical museum. The people who come to see it will leave with the sensation of having had a theatrical dream.” — Salvador Dalí • Discover the2000-year history of the city of Gerona. Learn about the city’s ancient Roman past and rich artistic heritage as you explore the Medieval Quarter with a local guide. Stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets of the old Jewish Quarter which is one of the best preserved Jewish Quarters in Europe, visit the Cathedral with its Tapestry of Creation and walk the paths around the old Roman city walls with its fantastic views of the city below. • Return to Barcelona for our Farewell Dinner.

DAY 7 – WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3 (B) • Depart our hotel after breakfast and drive to the airport and depart Barcelona, United Airlines Flight #121 at 10:40AM for Newark Liberty Airport.

“WHEN IN SPAIN” Please be advised that it is customary in Spain to dine after 9:00PM for the evening meal. Many of the restaurants do not open for dinner before then and entertainment is usually followed after dinner. We want you to experience Spain as the Spaniards do. If at any time you feel that you are not comfortable with late hours, you can return to the hotel by taxi at your own expense.

FREQUENT FLYER MILES: Individual participants who wish to use frequent flyer mileage rewards must handle all arrangements directly with United Airlines. Carew Travel Consultants, as a third party, is not responsible for any frequent flyer mileage arrangements. Individuals wishing to receive mileage credit for mileage on this trip must check with United directly regarding their policy for crediting group air miles.

INDEPENDENT FLIGHT ARRANGEMENTS: All airport transfers are based on the group’s flights and the bus will not able to alter its departure if your flight arrives after or leaves before the group’s flight. If you choose to book your own flights and miss a group transfer, you will be responsible for providing your own transportation and meeting the group at their next destination. Keep in mind that airlines are always changing times and flight itineraries. We have no control over this. BAGGAGE: Each passenger is entitled to one piece of checked luggage and one piece of carry-on luggage in addition to a personal item such as a purse or laptop. Currently United Airlines allows one checked bag weighing up to 50 pounds plus one carry-on without charge on flights to Europe. The charge for each additional checked bag is $100.

SEAT ASSIGNMENTS: Airlines often make attractive fares available to groups (10 persons or more) traveling together. However, these fares are usually accompanied by stringent rules that apply not only to the purchase and cancellation of airline tickets but also to the level of preflight service. Most airlines will not pre-assign seats for passengers traveling on group fare tickets. Seat preferences will be submitted to the airline prior to the departure, but please know that these requests cannot be guaranteed.

This trip involves full days of sightseeing with significant amounts of walking. Travelers must be in good physical condition and must be able to walk long distances, climb up and down stairs without handrails, handle uneven pavement and be able to climb on and off a motorcoach without assistance. If a traveler requires such assistance, she/he must be accompanied by a person fit and able to assist her/him who will be totally responsible for providing all required assistance. To enjoy this trip to the fullest, make sure you review the itinerary carefully and understand the level of physical activity and walking that the tour involves before booking. Consult with your physician if you have any concerns at all regarding your ability to participate and enjoy this trip.

RESPONSIBILITY: The Newark Museum/Carew Travel Consultants Inc. act only as agents for the passenger with respect to transportation and hotels, and exercise every care possible. However, we can assume no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity in connection with the services of any airplane, train, auto motorcoach or other conveyance used in carrying out these tours, or for acts of default of any company or person engaged in conveying the passengers or in carrying out the arrangements of the tour. We cannot accept responsibility for losses of additional expenses due to delay or changes in air or other causes beyond our control. All such losses or expenses will be borne by the passenger as tour rates provide for arrangements only for the time stated. We reserve the right to make alterations to the itinerary as may be deemed necessary for carrying out the tour. The right is reserved to cancel any tour prior to departure in which case the entire payment will be refunded without further obligation on our parts. It is understood that the air ticket when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the passenger and the air company concerned. Carew Travel reserves the right to increase the tour price in the event of cost increases due to changes in airfares, or fuel surcharges and all such increases are to be paid to Carew Travel upon notice to the tour participant of such increases.

The Newark Museum reserves the right to decline to accept any person as member of the tour or to require any participant to withdraw from the tour at any time without any refund when such person is incapable of meeting the rigors and requirements of the trip activities or is abusive to other trip participants or tour leaders. These actions will be taken when determined to be in the best interests of the health, safety and general welfare of the group or of the individual participant.

PAYMENT TERMS: A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your reservation. Payment by credit card (Visa or Master Card) or by check made out to Carew Travel. Your completed reservation form with payment should be mailed to the Newark Museum. The balance is due October 27,2017. Invoices for the balance of the payment will be mailed in September. Cancellations made after October 27,2017 will forfeit the entire cost of the trip. Travel Insurance is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: The Newark Museum strongly advises all tour participants to purchase travel insurance. Information on travel insurance will be sent with your confirmation/receipt of deposit.

UNUSED SERVICES & REFUNDS: No refund or adjustment can be made for any portion of the services including voluntary non-use of hotel accommodations, scheduled meals or any planned activity described in your itinerary.

The undersigned has read carefully the schedule of activities for this tour. The undersigned accepts any risks thereof and the conditions set forth therein. The undersigned agrees to release and hold harmless Carew Travel / Newark Museum and any of their officers or representatives from any and all liability for delays, injuries or death, or for the loss of or damage to, his/her property however occurring during any portion of the program.
