Edward Jones was a public accountant by profession and held numerous public appointments including:

Clerk to the Llanllyfni Parish Council Clerk to the Llanllyfni Parochial Committee Clerk to the Penygroes Local Governing Body Clerk and accountant of Llanllyfni Waterworks Clerk to the Llanllyfni Burial Authority He also acted as: Auditor to the Calvinistic Methodist Bookroom Agent to the Hafodlas Estate Secretary (and subsequently Liquidator) to the Penygroes, Llanllyfni and Nantlle Vale Gas Co. Ltd. Chief accountant of the Borough of Pwllheli, 1893-1903,

XM/7646/ 2 1884 - 1908 Includes correspondence re the Penygroes, Llanllyfni and Nantlle Vale Gas Co. Ltd. in liquidation. Also private letters (1904-1905) to the family and acquaintances of the late Mrs. Fanny Jones, widow of the Rev. John Jones, Talysarn. Edward Jones started writing an essay on her life for an eisteddfod competition and was requesting information.
