Note: Southern Bessarabia was divided up into four Location Centers for administering the task of preparing ethnic Germans for the Resettlement in 1940—Mannsburg [Ma-1], Beresina [Be-1], Albota [Al-1], and Kischinew [Ki-1]. The information below is taken from a large folder [Microfilm Frames 2451256-2451673] containing documents dealing with temporary settlement camps in the Reich, reports about Camp Locations, names of Camp Commanders, and various reports from the camps. This transcription is located within a bunch of papers that include the request for Camp Commanders to return Family Information Questionnaire (Fragebogen) to the Central Office. There are a number of similar documents with conflicting tabulations. The one below seems to indicate where various folks from Bessarabia villages were camped while waiting final settlement. Unsure just what the numbers mean, they might indicate how many people from Bessarabia were residing in the various locations, or the number of Fragebogen that the Camp Commanders were able to forward to the Central Office.
