Wheelie Active/Junior Paralympic Clubs

An opportunity for children with a physical disability to develop physical literacy and movement skills for sport in a safe, progressive environment.

The clubs support the development of basic skills in: balance, co-ordination, agility, wheelchair control, speed, catching, throwing and striking using a range of activities and games.

Boccia

Boccia is a target ball sport, similar in principle to , but is played indoors with soft leather balls. It is a sport for people with high levels of physical impairment resulting from Cerebral Palsy or other conditions affecting motor skills.

Players must play from a seated position and propel the ball on to the court by throwing, kicking or using a ramp.

There are currently Boccia clubs and programmes across Northern Ireland with lots of opportunities to get involved and try the sport.

For anyone wishing to progress in the sport there is also a National Championships and National Pairs League for players seeking competitive opportunities.

A fast-paced team game played by two teams of players with physical /long-term injuries affecting lower limbs.

Disability Sport NI is the lead development agency in Northern Ireland for the sport. The clubs offer opportunities to play recreationally and competitively. Disability Sport NI is also responsible for the development of talented players, selecting players to represent Northern Ireland.
