Jakarta, Indonesia – 5 February 2021 Business Update of MSIN: Expanding Operation to Capture Growing Indonesian Gaming Market PT MNC Studios International Tbk (“MSIN” or “the Company”), a subsidiary of PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN), has formed a dedicated gaming arm through PT Esports Star Indonesia (ESI). The establishment of ESI will see the Company to deliver innovative end-to-end solutions across the full spectrum of gaming related activities, such as E-Sports competition, E-Sports talent search program on FTA and OTT platform, management of E-Sports teams, as well as create, develop and publish video games. Following the success of Indonesia’s first E-Sports talent search and awarding program, E-Sports Star Indonesia and E-Sports Star Indonesia Awards, the second installment of each respective show will continue on GTV in 2021. The number of people with access to the internet in emerging markets, particularly in Indonesia has grown dramatically in the past years, which support the expansion of mobile gaming industry. Revenue in the Mobile Games segment is projected to reach US$1,487m in 2021 and is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2021- 2025) of 9.6%, resulting in a projected market volume of US$2,149m by 2025 according to Statista. Furthermore, mobile games in Indonesia has reached 54.7 million users as of 2020, which is expected to grow by 9.3% YoY in 2021 to 59.8 million, representing a penetration rate of 21.6%. Record Breaking Drama Program Performance MSIN, as the sole drama producer for MNCN, continued to provide the highest quality of nation-leading drama programs, namely “Ikatan Cinta”, which had a record breaking rating and audience share with an all-time high rating of 14.3 and audience share of 48.7% on the 3rd of February 2021, a feat no other production house nor broadcasting group has achieved previously. The Company has maintained its 3 top performing drama series in the Top 5 drama programs in January 2021, continuing its positive trend since Q4-2020. MSIN has built significant scale in key creative markets within Indonesian media industry through its continuous effort in producing quality drama series with more than 40% market share, reality programs with 40% market share, and Infotainment programs with 24% market share, and over 80% market share for animation production, with significant presence in more than 60 countries. Top Drama Programs January 2021 Indonesia’s Biggest Talent Management MSIN operates the largest talent management company in Indonesia under PT Star Media Nusantara (SMN) with close to 400 talents comprising of different specialization of entertainers for TV production, off-air events, commercial ads, music labels and digital/social media content, comprising of singers, actors, comedians, magicians, hosts, celebrity chefs, and many others. SMN is the official talent management for all talent search formats on MNCN, which garnered an industry-leading talent search program market share of more than 80%, such as Indonesian Idol, Indonesian Idol Junior, The Voice Indonesia, The Voice Kids, Rising Star, Miss Indonesia, amongst many other. This arrangement has proved to be beneficial, as long term contract of 5 years (plus a call option on MSIN for another 5 years) is secured and provides the Company with a continuous fresh pool of talent regularly. The Company’s music label unit under Hits Records also showed promising prospect. The pop-based label’s music has consistently topped the Billboard Indonesia Top 100 music charts throughout the year. Recently, MSIN has formed a new label specialized in “Dangdut” and “Melayu”, which are the two music genres widely popular amongst the mass market in Indonesia. The Largest Social Media Presence The Company’s social media performance managed by Starhits remains to be the biggest in Indonesia with 124 million subscribers and 38.5 billion views on Youtube. Furthermore, The Company’s Multi-Channel Network (MCN) also remains to be dominant, providing a significant contribution with 61.4 million subscribers and 6.2 billion views. In H2-2020, MSIN started its operations on Facebook (July 2020) that has accumulated 44 million subscribers and 1.3 billion views. Lastly, the establishment of its operations on TikTok (September 2020) has reached more than 41.3 million subscribers, further strengthening the Company’s position on the social media space.
