VIADUCT PLANNING Less than a month until ’s Viaduct closes

Starting at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, both directions of SR 99 through will close for at least three weeks as crews work to realign the roadway into the new tunnel. For about a month ALL traffic through Seattle will be on surface streets or I-5. Beginning in February, when the new tunnel opens, there will be no entrances or exits to Downtown from SR- 99. We all need to prepare for traffic congestion and increased travel times to and from Downtown.

Pike Place Market will remain open for business. The PDA’s goals are to:  Make sure we have staff to keep operations running smoothly.  Ensure Market customers are able to get to the Market and enjoy being here.  Make sure business and service deliveries continue to function, although we made need to adjust schedules because of traffic.  Continue marketing outreach to ensure locals know we are open for business with accessible parking options.

Communication is important. We will be in touch with the Market community throughout the project. We will help as we can to adjust to changing circumstances in order to keep operations and business operating smoothly. We will need you to stay in touch with us as well and to ask for our help in coordinating responses.

Let’s get prepared: □ Plan your new commute routes in and out of the Market before January. Use www.seattletraffic.org. □ Sign up for traffic alerts for your neighborhood corridor and receive morning and evening commute alerts: www.seattletraffic.org/subscribe/ □ Stay connected to the Market’s weekly updates starting in January. Sign up link will be distributed after January 1st.
