The City of SeaTac and its facilities will be closed for the Holidays on Tuesday, December 25, and Tuesday, January 1

Holiday Greeting

I wanted to take the opportunity to wish you all a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year.

It has been an exciting year for SeaTac, as we’ve witnessed new growth in the form of additional high-quality developments such as new housing units, hotels, restaurants and other businesses. This growth brought more living wage jobs to our City.

We are heading into 2019 in very healthy financial shape. This fall, the City Council passed a two-year budget that will again not require additional taxes from residents. Starting in 2019, SeaTac will have $24 million dollars in strategic long-term reserves and is well poised for maintaining current services for many years.

In addition, the SeaTac Police Department reports overall crime is down in SeaTac in 2018. The proactive policing approach has created safer streets, which in turn creates safer communities.

The City continues to achieve the vision of being a clean, safe, thriving, and healthy global community that welcomes people to live, learn, work, and play.

On behalf of all City of SeaTac Councilmembers and employees, our warmest wishes to you and your families during this holiday season.

Sincerely,

Joseph Scorcio City Manager

Windy Condition Safety Message from Puget Sound Energy

Damaging winds moved through the Puget Sound region on Thursday, with gusts close to 60 mph in some areas. The windy weather caused widespread outages in Puget Sound Energy’s (PSE) service territory.

Crews worked through the night to restore power to customers impacted by yesterday’s wind storm, with power restored to more than 239,000 customers by 5:00 AM. As of 5:00 AM, approximately 57,000 customers remain without power. Crews will work until all power is restored. As crews finish work in one area, they are assigned to repair damage in another.

Damage is heaviest in Kitsap, Island, Skagit and Whatcom Counties. Many customers will be restored throughout the day today; however, due to the extensive damage, it will be this weekend before the last customer’s service is restored.

PSE’s Emergency Coordination Center and local storm bases remain open and are coordinating restoration efforts. They have also brought in additional crews to help with restoration.

As damage assessment and field work continues today, estimated restoration times will be updated on our outage map and the myPSE app. We know customers need this information to make plans and we’ll get it as soon as crews can safely make their assessments. Regular updates and restoration times are posted as they are available.

If you are without power, remember: Safety first:
