TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDER, VARIOUS ROADS, DORSET - FOR ‘IRONMAN WEYMOUTH 70.3’
For the purpose of IRONMAN WEYMOUTH 70.3 TRIATHLON, Dorset County Council has made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation [Special Events] Act 1994 to; [1] prohibit the use of the roads described below by cyclists, horse riders and all mechanically propelled vehicles; [2] impose temporary one way systems, on roads described in the table below; [3] Reverse existing one way systems, on roads described in the table below; [4] Revoke existing one way systems, on roads described in the table below; [5] Impose a clearway to include no waiting, loading or unloading, on roads described in the table below. [6] Revoke the existing loading bay and impose a temporary taxi rank, outside ‘The Gloucester’, 1-20 Gloucester Lodge, The Esplanade, Weymouth. [7] To revoke the existing prohibition of driving order in Lower St Alban Street, which starts at the junction with St Nicholas Street between 06:00hrs and 19:00hrs. All restrictions above apply to all mechanically propelled vehicles, horse riders and cyclists, except those participating in the event; those given exemption by the event organiser, any emergency service vehicle. The Order will not, at any time, prevent access of pedestrians to premises situated on or adjacent to any road to which the order relates, or to any premises only accessible to pedestrians from such a road. The restrictions will apply on the 17th September 2017, unless stated otherwise, at such times as indicated in the table below, to facilitate the Ironman event. The restrictions are required to facilitate the event, (Ironman Weymouth 70.3) and to facilitate traffic flow throughout the duration of the event, and to ensure the safety of all road users and participants affected/taking part in the event.

6. TEMPORARY TAXI RANK – Due to the temporary clearway, no loading/unloading restriction on the Esplanade between Kings Statue and Weymouth Pavillion, and the temporary road closure on the Esplanade between Kings Statue and the Pavillion, a temporary taxi rank will be situated outside ‘The Gloucester’ in the existing loading bay, and this will be indicated by signs on site from 06:00hrs on the 17th September 2017 to 19:00hrs on the 17th September 2017.
7. The Prohibition of Driving order in Lower St Alban Street, which starts at the junction with St Nicholas Street will be temporarily revoked between 06:00hrs and 19:00hrs to allow for alternative routes to be available throughout the event.
Note; Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
