A. Post Lam Dre Teaching 3: conducted by Khenpo Chenyang (5 July to 29 July 2014)

Dear Members and Friends,

Greetings to all from our July Mailer . In this month STL dharma activities, we have three Dharma Teachings and two Celebrations to cater for our readers and visitors. We have also the inauguration of the new Amitabha Chanting Session on the 27 July.

The Main activity is the Dharma Teachings by Khenpo Chenyang from 5 July to 28 July. They are a) (Mind Training) Teaching, b) Hevajra Yantra Yoga practice and c) Vajrayogini Sadhana Explanation.

a) Lojong Teachings ( 5 th July to 13 July) : All are welcome Lojong which means mind training in Tibetan is a set of Mahayana Teachings and practices that transforms a self cherishing and self-centeredness mind to an altruistic mind that cherish others. These teachings are opened to all to attend. 3 LOJONG TEACHINGS will be conducted They are 1. The Wheel of Sharp Weapons by Dharmarakshita, the Sumatran Pandit 2. Seven-point Mind Training by Chekawa Yeshe Dorje, the Kadampa Master, and 3. Parting from the four Clingings by Sachen Kunga Nyingpo, founder of the Sakya Tradition

Every sentient being including ourselves wish to live a harmonious and happy life in this existence. However, in order to achieve this state of harmony and happiness with ourselves, others around us and the environment, we need to nurture a pervading sense of loving kindness and . Lojong practices can nurture this sense of loving kindness and compassion by effectively reverting our basic self-orientated attitude toward fellow sentient beings, as well as toward the events around us, to cherish the welfare of others and act for their benefit . These recipes of Mahayana mind training for happy and harmonious living have been around for almost a thousand years in Tibet at the time of the founding of the Kadampa school in 1056.

Presently, we think and evolve all our activities around ourselves which we consider as the true me at the expense of all others. Those that is nearest to us we give and share more, those not to near to us we give less and to others we do not know or enemies we shun them. The mind training teaching challenges us to reverse this process. The training involves a deep understanding of others as true friends and is more precious than a wish-fulfilling jewel, and the recognition that our true enemy lies within ourselves, not outside.

Therefore the main theme of mind training practice is the profound reorientation of our basic attitude both toward our own self and others and to firm our motivation that the practices of the Buddha dharma lies on the intention to help all others

We welcome all to attend these profound Mahayana Mind Training Teachings and incorporate the values we has obtained from these Teachings to our daily life activities.

b) Hevajra Yantra Yoga Exercises (12 July – 19 July): For Lam Dre practitioners only. Hevajra yoga yantra (or lus jong) is the physical aspect of the three essential practice. These physical training exercises are preliminary practices which is essential at one stage of our practice. Khenpo Chenyang will go through the revision of the 5, 20 and 32 exercises with us. We encourage all practitioner do take this opportunity to attend and check with Khenpola any doubts on these exercises.

c) Vajrayogini Teaching on Kye-rim and Dzog-rim including Sem Dzin (13 July - 29 July): For all Vajrayogini practitioners who have completed the 7 day Teaching . Khenpo Chenyang will be giving explanation on the 2 processes of Creation (with Sem Dzin Meditation) and Completion Stages. We welcome all Vajtayogoni practitioners who have received the 7 days of Vajrayogini Teaching to attend this main part of our Sadhana practices

These are the three Dharma Teaching activities conducted by Khenpo Chenyang and there covers a wide aspect for the needs for all our members, friends and visitors: from the general Mahayana where all can attend, to the specific needs of the where many of our members have received empowerments from our Sakya Teachers in the past.

STL will continue strive and commit to bring in more Dharma Teachings that will cater to the wide range of needs for our members, friends and visitors.

May the blessing of the Guru and the triple gem be with all, and may the auspiciousness of our Centre pervades throughout with these dharma activities.

Yours in the Dharma
