WORLD-RENOWENED YOGI TO LEAD MASTER CLASS AT THE SPORTS CENTER AT CHELSEA PIERS

(New York, NY – February 5, 2013) - Globally sought-after Yogi Charu will be at the Sports Center health club at Chelsea Piers on Saturday, February 23rd to teach a yoga master class on the basketball courts at 9:00am. The Sports Center’s own Paulo Hudson will also be on hand to help lead the class. The 90- minute class will include uplifting vibrations, warm ups, Kriyas-cleansing, sun salutations, mind challenging poses, deep relaxation and . Participants should bring their own mat.

Yogi Charu was personally trained in the arts of and tantric meditation by Anandakapila , founder of the prestigious . Residing in New York City since 2009, Yogi Charu is currently a Co-Director of the Yoga Teacher Training and the Director of the Meditation Training at Pure Yoga.

Paulo Hudson has taught yoga for over 15 years and has based his practice at Chelsea Piers for the last 10 years. After arriving in America in 1986, he studied with master yoga teachers Amrit Desai, Ana Sussman, Sharon and David, founders of Jivamukti yoga, Jim Bernhardt, John Friend, Elena Bower, Judith Lasater and many more who have inspired his style of teaching.

Proceeds from the class (minimum suggest donation of $15) will benefit the Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund (CPSF). CPSF is committed to providing New York City children in need with the opportunity to experience the enormous benefits and enjoyment of participation in athletics. Funds are used to provide partial and full scholarships to the summer sports camp and after-school sports programs offered at Chelsea Piers and throughout New York City. CPSF provides approximately 300 scholarships annually to deserving children.
