This was on 28 august 2013.

ow, of course when I say slung my leg over a racing Nmotorcycle, I really mean that my crew of four ‘carefully’ lifted me from my wheelchair on to the specially-prepared SV650cc Suzuki that had been loaned to me by The Bike Experience(TBE). It was the culmination of nine-months planning and preparation that had begun just before my father died in December 2012, when he forwarded on an email from the Manx Motorcycle Club who were inviting past winners to attend their 90th Anniversary event in August 2013. As a past winner (way back in 1984) I was eligible to take part in the parade lap, and being me, I asked if I would be allowed to ride – a request that was met with a, “Yes, if you can show us you are safe and competent to do so”. I attended TBE, a charity that runs modified motorbikes to allow disabled riders to get back on a bike, at Silverstone in April and May and decided I was OK to take on the challenge I had set myself.
