Concessions and Discounts Are you aware of what cost concessions and discounts you can obtain by virtue of being a pensioner? We are trying to collect in this one place information about concessions available all over the country. Please let the Website Administrator know either if there is a concession we should add to this document, or if we have the information wrong, or if it is out of date! We list also links to sites that may be of interest, including sites which have an ex-HSBC involvement. Dining The Manor Hotel, Datchet, tel. 01753 543442 and the Red Lion Hotel, Henley-on-Thames, tel.01491 572161 both offer 10% discount on Sunday lunches if you mention the HSBC Bank UK Pensioners' Association. Check & book by phone in advance. Harrow branch hold their summer luncheon at Datchet and are looked after very well there. The Henley Hotel is under the same management. Avoid the Regatta week. Olsen Lines are offering a 10% discount to members who book online of by phone quoting the HSBC discount code. Go to our Fred Olsen page for full details and remember that any offers made by Fred. Olsen on their website are on top of the 10% discount. SilverTravelAdvisor This website offers advice and offers for those who sign up as members. Membership is free. Travel Insurance Discount for HSBC Pensioners Aviva already offer a 15% discount on their travel insurance, for HSBC staff and Pensioners, when the cover is purchased online*. We are delighted to announce that Aviva have now extended this discount to cover purchased over the telephone. Please call Aviva on 0800 299 399. You MUST state that you are an HSBC Pensioner, and then the discount will be applied. This discount is available from 1 April 2015.

*Costs will vary depending on where you are travelling and any pre-existing medical conditions and age of any insured parties at the time of travel. The London Freedom Pass can now be used on all local off-peak buses within (but not , Scotland or ). Within the London area it can be used on buses, Tube, and the DLR 24 hours a day. After 9.30 A.M. you can use the pass on London Overground trains. You can also take up to four under eleven year olds on your pass free. Your pass is valid on certain Overground services as far as Amersham, Chalfont and Latimer, Chesham, Wood, Croxley, Rickmansworth, Watford, Finsbury Park, Harrow, Upminster and Ruislip. Holders of Older Persons Freedom passes can travel free at any time after 9.00 A.M. on weekdays or at any time on weekends and public holidays. National Rail will also accept the Freedom Pass on journeys to Dartford and Swanley which are outside Greater London. The Freedom Pass can also be used to obtain a discount on several of the Thames Riverboat services. Likewise for Local Authorities that issue bus passes to the over-60s, the pass can be used on all local off-peak buses within England. For a list of issuing Authorities, click here. For residents, free bus pass on local application for travel across England. Holders of the English National Over 60s Bus Card can get free travel on the trams in Sheffield. Full details can be found on the web pages for Travel South . A Senior railcard can save you up to 1/3 on rail journeys. Visit http://www.senior- railcard.co.uk/ It costs £30 and is valid for 1 year. There is now a 3 year railcard available ONLINE ONLY for £70.00 thus saving £20.00 over 3 annual railcards. If you buy a Senior Railcard and travel to/in London you can set the discount entitlement on a standard adult Oyster card to get 34 per cent discount on: Off-peak pay as you go single fares for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London, and the off-peak daily price cap for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London. Tesco Clubcard vouchers can be exchanged for vouchers to purchase both a Senior Railcard for £15 of Rewards vouchers, and Eurotunnel Le Shuttle vouchers where £10 of Reward vouchers obtains £30 of Eurotunnel vouchers. Clubcard vouchers can also be used on Irish Ferries crossings. P&O Ferries. Not specifically for over-60s, but you can obtain through their loyalty scheme season tickets on the -Calais route (and others) which offer attractive discounts. Go to http://www.poferries.com Northlink Ferries to the Orkneys and Shetlands (for all you wildlife addicts) The city council and Primary Care Trust (PCT) is introducing a senior citizens leisure pass to all residents over 60, giving them free access to swimming, gym membership, badminton, squash and tennis. For those who travel, the Bite Card offers 20% discount at UK stations (and Victoria Coach Station, London). DIY & Gardening B&Q Diamond Card over 60s club offers 10% discount on Wednesdays. A member suggests that Homebase also do such a card, called Homebase Plus, described as "welcome addition for the over 60's" It gives 10% off and double Nectar points on Tuesdays. However local enquiries reveal that staff deny its existence. Please let the Website Administrator know if you are able to obtain one. The Wyevale Gardening Club is a reward scheme like Nectar. On Tuesdays you will receive double points, but you will also receive points on other days. Join at your local Wyevale Garden Centre. If you are still paying an annual subscription, check with them! The , The National Trust for Scotland and apparently offer discounted membership to the over 60s - but you have to ask for it! The Attendance Allowance is a tax-free Government Benefit to help with personal care because you’re physically or mentally disabled and you’re aged 65 or over. The application form is apparently very complicated and help with it from the likes of Age Concern is recommended.
