Black belt is more then just a belt. It is a sign of years of work, and perseverance. It is the culmination of so much. It is proof that you are strong. It shows the black belt way is something you are, you give 100% effort, you have an indomitable spirit, and you have a positive attitude. It is years of work, sweat and perseverance. It is hard to get, but to finally wear the uniform and the belt is a physical sign of the dedication put into training. Getting your black belt is one of the biggest moments in martial arts training, and it takes years of work to get it. It is hard to get and when you do it isn’t the end, it is a goal reached, so next you set a new one, a short term goal and a long term one. It could be learning the next thing for a short term one, and getting your second degree for a long term one. Black belt is not an ending, it is another beginning. I have been at true martial arts for 8 years and it has been a journey. Last year I broke my foot while doing flying reverse side kick, and when I came back, I was terrified to do it again. But I practiced at home and refused to give up. This way my test of indomitable spirit. Taking the time off for my foot to heal gave me time to consider what I wanted out of my martial arts journey. I remembered all the times I was so happy when I got something right after trying for so long, and I love how much stronger I have become through training. It is a community that I love to be a part of, and I remembered why I was not going to stop. My injury gave me time to remember why I loved training, and when I came back, I had the motivation to test in October. It was a rough time, but I remembered what I was working for and came out of it stronger. Getting my black belt means so much to me, when the Ballata’s convinced my brother and I to join the twins were the coolest people on the planet. I wanted to be just like them, and I still look up to them after all these years, inspired by their dedication and perseverance. Getting your black belt is hard but is a worthwhile thing and the journey to get there has had a huge impact on my life. It gave me the confidence to be myself with others, and to be confident in what I can do.

Kendall Huberty was promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt in October of 2020. She’s an Assistant Instructor who has been training for over 6 years. Kendall is a Sophomore at The Bear Creek School.

The following in-studio services are currently being offered:

1 on 1 private lessons Group private lessons Group in-studio pre-testing Arnis & Board Breaking Seminars Taekwondo & Arnis testing Kickboxing fitness group classes Pee Wee Kickers (ages 6 and under) Taekwondo group classes SNAP (Special Needs) classes

All safety rules and guidelines from the Washington State Department of Health are being followed. Safety requirements include: safety training for employees, social distancing practices (6 feet of separation at all times), face coverings required for instructors and students, sanitizing between classes, more time between classes, reduced building capacity and more.

We also offer the following services on Zoom:

Taekwondo classes Arnis classes Sparring classes 1 on 1 Pre-testing Testing in Taekwondo to level 4 Testing in Arnis to Blue Belt

Beginning in March, there will be no more Monday Tae Kwon Do classes for level 4 students on Zoom. We still offer Thursday Tae Kwon Do classes for level 4 students on Zoom in addition to Tuesday Arnis classes on Zoom and Wednesday Sparring class on Zoom. Also keep in mind that Level 4 students can attend any Zoom class for their rank AND classes for their previous ranks if they want additional training. This change was made because most level 4 students are now training in-studio, so we are switching more of our instructors over to teaching in-studio rather than teaching on Zoom.

SNAP stands for Special Needs Advancement Program. This is a martial arts class for people with special needs. Classes are held Sundays and have an open enrollment. You can reserve a private orientation for class times and pricing by contacting us at [email protected].
