“Winter”ful January in Pre-K4 by Gabrielle Augustine

Pre-K4 learned the letters S for snow, W for winter, and Z for zebras. Pre- K4 made snowmen and inside each circle of the body had letters which spelled out their names. For the letter Z, they made zebras, used zig zag scis- sors, and made finger paint Z’s.

Makhali Cortez said, “We made snakes with sand.”

Jaxson Gradney said, “We are in the winter season and we made snow- men.”

Mason Fleming said, “We learned about winter and made zebras.”

Third Graders Are Out of This World by Amari Rodgers

The students learning about astrono- my. They created awesome models about the Earth, moon phases, and the sunrise to sunset. They researched and presented to their class.

Ylina Dao made the moon phases by using little clay balls. Her mother baked the clay balls. She then painted the balls with glow in the dark paint. This shows the part we see in the night sky. She also painted the other parts of the moon with black paint .

4th Grade Gets a Special Visitor by Arlaina Diamantis

On January 11, 2017, CenterPoint Energy came out and talked with 4th grade about natural gas safety. Natu- ral gas is a fossil fuel. It is a source of energy for heating, cooking, and elec- tricity generation.

“What I learned was if you start to smell gas, get out as fast as you can and don't turn around,” said Elizabeth Coker.

Dino with Pre-K3 by Ethan Gravis

Pre-K3 learned about dinosaurs! They colored a Stegosaurus. They also made penguins out of paper plates. They painted a paper to decorate their spirit door during Bulldog Pride Week.

6th Grade Is Shaking With Excitement by Kiara Lange

The 6th grade learned about plate tectonics in science class. Plate tectonic is a theory that explains the structure of the earth's crust as a result of the interaction of rigid lithospheric plates that move slowly over the un- derlying . Plate tectonics make earthquakes and also create mountains and valleys. Mrs. Tolin said that they had learned a song about the marvel- ous science project.

On January 17, 2017, we were paid a visit by one of the Harlem Globetrot- ters players, “El Gato” Melendez. He spoke to the SACBS students about an anti-bullying program, ABC (Action, Brave, Compassion), that the Harlem Globetrotters are promoting. He also talked about being the first Harlem Globetrotter from Puerto- Rico and going back to school after playing professional basketball. Saint of the Month by Kiara Lange

The saint of the month for February is St. Valentine. He is the patron saint of love, young people, and happy mar- riages. He converted 60 members of the royal guard to Christianity. He was also a Roman priest. His feast day is February 14.
