Fifth Sunday of LentO April 7, 2019 A Message from Fr. Tom Donovan: — Mass Times — Saturday: 4:00, 6:30 pm One of my greatest privileges as pastor is to welcome people into Sunday: 8:00, 10:30 am Full Communion with the . Invariably, as I listen to M, Tu, Th: 7:30 am the stories of people who have grown up in another faith or in no W (school) 8:30 am faith at all, when they speak of their encounters with our parish and F (St. Vincent): 10:30 am its people, their family members who are Catholic, experiences of Holy Days: as announced the Church through the media, such as EWTN or the weekly TV Mass. I am moved by the way the Holy Spirit continues to draw people into this One Faith, — Sacrament of Reconciliation — One Baptism, and to the One Lord of All. Lent is a time that is first and foremost a period of Saturday: 5:00-6:00 pm and purification and prayer for those who are coming into the Church at Easter. In the early other times by appointment Church, participation by all the faithful in the penitential practices of the catechumens was a way that even ‘old timers’ and ‘cradle Catholics’ could re-live the excitement and beauty -Adoration of the - of their own baptisms, perhaps many years before. With this, Lent lost some of its pre-baptismal focus and character. An effort has been underway in recent decades to reclaim that more authentic understand- ing of Lent, and to engage the faithful in fervent prayer and sacrifice, not only for their own good, but for the good of those who are embracing the death and resurrection of Christ through participation in the Easter Sacraments. This year, we will have two individuals, Jill Haubrich and Cody Roundcount, who will be Mon,, April 8, 2019 baptized as Catholics at the Easter Vigil. Teresa Paben, Mike Henthorn, and Robert Campos 7:30 a.m. Bradly Hidebrand+ are being received into Full Communion with the Catholic Church. These (three) have all been previously baptized in the Christian faith, and will receive an outpouring of the Holy Tues., April 9, 2019 Spirit through Confirmation and participate fully for the first time in the covenant of Christ, 7:30 a.m. Ed Glanzman/ poured out in his body and blood through the at the Easter Vigil . In the days that Paul Wensing+ follow, these new Catholics will be living signs to us all of the new life which God desires for all of his family in the sacraments. A Message from Mrs. Sue KelleyNPrincipal

Making Blankets for Hospice

The 2nd and 7th grade students worked together to make blankets for Hospice. The supplies for this project were pur- chased through a Mercantile Banking on Youth Grant received by 7th grade teacher, Mrs. O’Neal.

6th Grade Students Experience Interviews Our 6th grade students recently had the opportunity to complete job applications and experience sit-down job inter- views with various local community and business leaders as part of their Junior Achievement Program curriculum. This allowed them to practice skills they are learning in Junior Achievement, and to prepare them for their roles as business persons and entrepreneurs next month at JA Biztown in Chesterfield, MO. The students did an amazing job! Thanks to our guests who came to interview our students. We are grateful for your time.
