Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

Det var der, i den rike, overgrodde skogen i South Tennessee at de fant kjernen av sin nye fullengder. For bandet fra Long Beach, California blir dette debutalbumet via ikoniske Atlantic Records ogFeral Rootsbærer ekko av sin opprinnelse med en sound og ånd som er både nervepirrende utemmet og vilt majestetisk. Men med sine nyanserte oppdagelser av både de ville og temmede kampene ved kjærlighet og sannhet, argumenterer albumet til syvende og sist for å komme forbi våre rene overlevelsesinstinkter og strebe etter noe mer opphøyet; for å gjenvinne en lenge utvannet sjanger tilbake til sin form. Produsert av Rival Sons’ langvarige samarbeidspartner Dave Cobb (Grammy- vinnende produsent kjent for sitt arbeid med artister som Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, John Prine og Brandi Carlile), kom Feral Roots til live i det kjente RCA Studio i Nashville samt ikoniske Muscle Shoals Sound Studio i Alabama. This dissertation examines uses of history and expressions of cultural memory in Norwegian black metal. Formed in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Norwegian black metal seemed at odds with many of the stereotypes of Norway. The genre is an extreme style of heavy metal music that has been associated with burning churches, desecrating graves, and committing murders. Yet, Norway is often perceived as wealthy with sublime natural beauty and high levels of equality. Since the late 1990s, Norwegian black metal has increasingly received positive recognition and support from Norwegian government agencies and cultural institutions who have deemed this style of music a cultural product of Norway. In exploring the relationship between Norwegian black metal and Norway, two primary questions are asked: what makes Norwegian black metal ‘Norwegian’ and what are its influences? To answer these questions, a theoretical approach based on Astrid Erll’s cultural memory complex is used.

2016-03-02 19:00 CET Rival Sons släpper nytt album! ‘Hollow Bones’ är namnet på Rival Sons nya album som släpps den 10 Juni! Bandet, ledda av vokalisten Jay Buchanan, har hyllats av kritiker och fans världen över. I Sverige fick senaste albumet ”Great Western Valkyrie” 10/10 av Rockbladet, 5/6 av Svenska Dagbladet och 4/5 av Aftonbladet. I USA utsåg Classic Rock Magazine skivan till ett av årets bästa album 2014. Och nu är det äntligen dags för ett nytt album från bandet, inspelad och producerad av 2 x Grammy vinnaren Dave Cobb som säger så här om bandet: “Rival Sons are the best rock ‘n’ roll band on the planet!” Long Beach-bandet har jämförts med storheter många gånger, samtidigt som man har skapat sitt eget sound med fem albums och en EP med sig i gitarrfodralet.
