Californias finest, RIVAL SONS släpper nytt album! ”GREAT WESTERN VALKYRIE” är uppföljaren till 2012 års kritikerrosade ” Head Down”, som av Englands Classic Rock Magazine kallades ”en helhjärtad rock platta”. ”GREAT WESTERN VALKYRIE” är producerad av Dave Cobb som samarbetat med bandet flera gånger tidigare och är inspelad i LCS Studios in Nashville. På den nya skivan har man breddat sina influenser lite grann, musikaliskt är det nu också ännu svängigare och med sin nya basist Peter Beste har bandet verkligen hittat hem. Albumet är rått, fysiskt och målar upp filmiska visioner med teman om kärlek, revolt och befrielse. Såhär säger bandets sångare JAY BUCHANAN själv om skivan: "Every time we set out to make a record, the experience ends up being some of the old and some of the new. Same studio, same town, same on-spot writing/recording process with the same guys. Actually, not the same guys; we have a new bass player in Dave Beste, and we had my buddy Ikey Owens (THE MARS VOLTA, JACK WHITE) throw down some craziness on keys while he was in town. "I'd like to think we became a little bit more of ourselves making this record and that the selection of influences has broadened a bit. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Miley during the recording; I believe his playing on this record is his most lyrical and musical yet and that's probably a direct reflection of Beste's fresh blood in the mix.” "My performance? I think it's more of the same on my end, but Cobb did tell me that my finest performances were given in these sessions, but what the fuck does he know? They say the truth is in the taste - I'd say this record is the filthy magazine hidden in the hymnal." We caught up with Holiday the other day to chat about his spunky approach to guitar playing, his many axes and sonic toys, and to find out how he felt rubbing shoulders with a new fan, another six- string slinger who goes by the name Jimmy Page. FERAL ROOTS slippes overalt 25. januar via den GRAMMY® Award-vinnende produsenten Dave Cobb's label Low Country Sound under Atlantic Records. Det kommende albumet, annonsert via Consequence of Sound, introduseres med en helt ny låt "Back In The Woods". FERAL ROOTS er Rival Sons' debut på Low Country Sound/Atlantic Records og er nok en gang produsert av bandets langvarige samarbeidspartner Dave Cobb i Nashville's berømte RCA Studio A og det like så legendariske Muscle Shoals Sound Studio i Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Coveret på FERAL ROOTS er malt av den berømte samtidskunstneren Martin Wittfooth. Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
