Kerava to join the Helsinki region’s joint application area for right-of-occupancy dwellings

Starting from January, you can apply for a right-of-occupancy dwelling in 12 different municipalities with the same queue number, as Kerava joins the application area.

The market area for right-of-occupancy dwellings in the Helsinki region will expand as of 1 January 2016, with Kerava joining the joint system as a new municipality. Kerava will join the market area consisting of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Hyvinkää, Järvenpää, Kirkkonummi, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Sipoo, Vihti and Pornainen. The last time that new municipalities joined the system was at the beginning of 2015, when the KUUMA municipalities joined the joint application area of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa.

Queue numbers applied for after 1 January 2015 can be used to apply for a right-of-occupancy dwelling in any municipality that belongs to the market area. Queue numbers received from the municipalities earlier are still valid and have priority for dwellings in the municipality from which the number was originally received.

The Kerava right-of-occupancy customer service will be moved to the Housing Division of the Real Estate Department of the City of Helsinki as of 1 January 2016. Starting from the beginning of the year, Helsinki will provide centralised right-of-occupancy customer service for the entire region with the exception of Espoo, which will handle its right-of- occupancy issues itself.
