IBU WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS BIATHLON ANTHOLZ ANTERSELVA 12.-23.02.2020 3 GRUSSWORT | SALUTO | WELCOME ADDRESS Our actions are guided by sustainability Liebe Biathlon-Freunde, es ist mir eine große Freude, alle Athletinnen und Athleten, Betreuer, Pressevertreter, Sponsoren und Zuschauer, die zur IBU Biathlon Weltmeisterschaft 2020 nach Antholz kommen, herzlichst zu begrüßen und willkommen zu heißen. Antholz ist in der internationalen Biathlon-Szene seit Jahrzehnten ein Begriff. Der Biathlon-Weltcup fand erstmals vor über dreißig Jahren statt und Antholz war von Anfang an als Veranstalter dabei. Vom 12. bis 23. Februar 2020 veranstalten wir bereits zum sechsten Mal eine Weltmeisterschaft. Es sind vor allem die Leistungen der Athleten, eine perfekte Organisation, ein begeistertes und faires Publikum und ein unterhaltsames Rahmenprogramm, welche ein solches Ereignis zum unvergesslichen Event machen. Mit einem spannenden Wettkampfprogramm und einem atemberaubenden Rahmenprogramm inmitten der beispiellosen Bergkulisse des Antholzertales wünsche ich Euch allen einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt, spannende Wettkämpfe und viel Spaß in Antholz! Cari amici del Biathlon! è per me una grandissima gioia poter dare il benvenuto a tutte le atlete e gli atleti, i tecnici, i giornalisti, gli sponsor e gli spettatori venuti ad Anterselva per la Coppa del Mondo IBU 2020 di Biathlon. Da decenni ormai, Anterselva è leader nel panorama del Biathlon internazionale. La Coppa del Mondo, infatti, ha avuto luogo per la prima volta oltre trent’anni fa e Anterselva vi ha partecipato sin dagli esordi in veste di organizzatrice. Dal 12 al 23 febbraio 2020 siamo onorati di organizzare per la sesta volta un Campionato Mondiale. A trasformare la manifestazione sportiva in un evento davvero indimenticabile è soprattutto la performance degli atleti, ma anche una perfetta organizzazione, un pubblico entusiasta e corretto e un programma di intrattenimento vario e divertente. Gerald Steinacher* Fascist Legacies:1 Th e Controversy over Mussolini’s Monuments in South Tyrol2 Th e northern Italian town of Bolzano (Bozen in German) in the western Dolomites is known for breathtaking natural landscapes as well as for its medieval city centre, gothic cathedral, and world-famous mummy, Ötzi the Iceman, which is on dis- play at the local archaeological museum. At the same time, Bolzano’s more recent history casts a shadow over the town. Th e legacy of fascism looms large in the form of Ventennio fascista-era monuments such as the Victory Monument, a mas- sive triumphal arch commissioned by the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini and located in Bolzano’s Victory Square, and the Mussolini relief on the façade of the former Fascist Party headquarters (now a tax offi ce) at Courthouse Square, which depicts il duce riding a horse with his arm raised high in the Fascist salute.
