These funds went directly to PUSD to support College and Career Pathways, Specialized Secondary programs, After School programs, Magnet Schools, Healthy Start programs, Adult Education and are not reflected in the Statement of Activity above.

4 TEACHERS 2015-2016 Highlights

Through dedicated partnerships, inspirational programs, and access to advanced technology and digital tools, this was a year of innovation for PEF and our Pasadena Unified Schools.

From technology, to arts, to gardens, and more, some highlights include:

• Extensively renovated the baseball field at John Muir High School. Honoring alumnus Jackie Robinson, the newly christened Stadium 42 was built in partnership with the Dodgers, Baseball Tomorrow Fund, and other community organizations.

• Secured an NEA Grant to create the performing arts program, Open Stage, that expands on PEF’s nationally-recognized My Masterpieces arts program. The new program will accelerate performing arts learning opportunities for students by taking advantage of the ample resources the Pasadena community offers.

• Graduated the first class of computer science students from the four-yearApp Academy program at Pasadena High School. The App Academy, funded by PEF, prepares students for higher education and fulfilling careers in the computer science and programming fields.

• Awarded 128 visionary teachers and principals with PEF Teacher Grants to help bring more creativity, innovation, and inspiration into their classrooms. Grants supported project-based learning, design thinking, and integrated technology for programs like 3D printing, engineering in Kindergarten, DNA kits, and a Gaudí style mosaic art sculpture garden.

• Expanded School-Community Gardens designed to bring the community together with the schools to cultivate a healthy environment through a Farm-to-Table curriculum and serve as an outdoor science classroom.

• Created a series of community concerts, Rock 4 PEF and Battle of the Bands, that built awareness and raised funds for music programs. Concerts connected the vibrant local arts and music community with teen musicians showcasing their talents while providing musical instruments, including violins for use by every 3rd grader in the district.
