South African Airways Awarded “Favorite in ” by TRAZEE TRAVEL’S Millennial Readers

Trazee Travel, a unique interactive web-based publication for millennial travelers has named South African Airways (SAA), the national carrier of as the “Favorite Airline in Africa” for the fourth consecutive year. South African Airways was honored with the accolade at the annual The Trazee awards event hosted by Global Traveler magazine during the 2018 Global Business Travel Association Convention on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in San Diego.

Trazee Travel was created by Global Traveler’s parent company, FX Express Publications, Inc., for travelers aged 18- 35 as a one-stop online resource for millennial travelers with news, tips, reviews for travel products throughout the world. The annual The Trazees celebrates excellence with the top travel companies and includes , airports, hotels, tourism destinations and other travel providers. The Trazees nominations are collected from an online ballot completed by their subscribed readers and the winners are selected by a panel of travel experts.

South African Airways Increases Frequency for a Seamless Travel Experience

South African Airways (SAA) has increased frequency to Luanda, , creating a seamless travel experience for customers travelling to various destinations on the SAA network on all continents. SAA’s African and Asian destinations in particular will have an increased connectivity allowing for seamless travel.

The two extra weekly flights will commence with effect from 9 September 2018, bringing SAA’s total weekly operations between Johannesburg and Luanda to four flights per week. Both narrow and wide body aircraft (A330-200, A330- 300 and A320) operate on this route. The additional frequencies that take effect from 9 September will be operated with the A320 two class configured aircraft.

SAA’s Network Development Plan is aligned to the Alliance Strategy by strengthening its position in sub- Saharan Africa through forming new partnerships. SAA customers can also fly with TAAG Angola Airlines, as the two carriers code share between Johannesburg and Luanda as well as Cape Town and Luanda.

10 Cardinal Rules of Comfortable Flying

When flying South African Airways, you do not need to limit yourself to the bare essentials. On flights between North America and South Africa, SAA’s baggage allowance is very generous with 2 free pieces of luggage at 50 pounds each. For those that enjoy travelling light here are a few packing tips:

1. Pack your medicines (homeopathic and prescribed) so you’re prepared for an emergency. Be well-versed in the rules of carrying-on Liquids, Aerosols and Gels. 2. Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration as elevation effects the body’s water levels. 3. Wear loose-fitting comfortable clothes made of natural fibres. 4. Make sure your shoes can handle expanding ankles and swollen feet. 5. Get up every two hours while on board, stretch and go to the bathroom to freshen up. 6. When flying long distance, do light exercises that may increase blood circulation and stretch muscles. 7. Set your watch to the time of your destination so your body adjusts to the time change during the flight. 8. Walk as much as you can once you’ve arrived at your destination to increase blood flow. 9. Take a hot shower or bath to remove any unwanted build-up of germs or fluids. 10. Find time to rest by taking a short nap that won’t interfere with your night-time sleep.

What's Cooking... Siba’s Famous Trifle Recipes by Siba Mtongana as seen in My Table

Siba thinks that the best part about this Trifle is that you can use a variety of fruits, either seasonal or those you like most. It's a dessert that takes center stage that looks delicious and beautiful.

Siba Mtongana is the most recent celebrity chef to be tasked with creating dishes for Business Class travelers on SAA’s international routes

Try this recipe at home.

Prep Time: 20 min Cook Time: 10 mins Total Time: 30 mins Serves: 8 people

Ingredients

Layering Berry Sauce • 500g (2 tubs) plain cream cheese, at room temperature • 400g mixed frozen berries • 1 litre strawberry yogurt • zest of 1 lemon • 4 mini Swiss rolls or 1 large, cut into thin slices • 250ml caster sugar • 1 or 1,5 liters good quality ready-made custard • 60ml water • 250g fresh raspberries • 250g fresh strawberries, quartered • 100g blueberries • 125g gooseberries (optional) • 125ml cream, whipped (optional) • 80g fresh cherries (optional)

Instructions

1. Place the frozen berries in a medium-sized saucepan and heat for a few minutes until they soften, then crush them with a fork. 2. Add the lemon zest, sugar and water, and cook for 5 minutes until the mixture has thickened and reduced. 3. Set aside to cool completely. 4. Whisk the cream cheese until soft and smooth and place it in a large dish. 5. Add the fruit yogurt a little at a time, beating well after each addition to prevent any lumps from forming. Continue until all the yogurt has been combined with the cream cheese. 6. In a deep glass trifle dish, arrange the mini Swiss roll slices up the sides and on the base. 7. Top with the custard and yoghurt and cream cheese mix. 8. Drizzle the cooled berry sauce around the edge, followed by a layer of the fresh berries. 9. Repeat the layering with the Swiss roll, custard, yoghurt and cream cheese mix, berry sauce and fresh mixed berries, until the dish is filled. Top with cream and more berries. 10. Garnish with the cherries and serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and keep in the fridge until you need it.
