blocking their view, they did immediately, Superintendent’s without any comments. They encourage our girls right to the end, and then beyond. Corner All of this in itself was enough to make me proud to be a Johnsburg fan, but what happened next made me realize that our students are more than great athletes, they are truly great people. After the game the girls came across the field, as they do, to show their appreciation to the fans. This time it meant they walked right up to our boys, who were right on the sideline. As you can imagine the girls were upset from their loss, but The other day I had the opportunity to see a real they held their heads high, as they should. They incredible act of school spirit/ friendship. I turned and just as they were leaving one of the attended the varsity girls’ sectional soccer game boys asked if they needed a hug. The girls, still at Westport. We were playing our first round of turning to walk back to their bench, stopped and sectional play against the Griffins decided that yes, they indeed needed a hug right (Westport/Elizabethtown) and it was a great then. As the girls turned back to their peers, the game. Both sides played hard and the final boys immediately ran out on the field and they outcome was 0-1 with the Griffins taking the all interlocked their arms and did a group cheer win. It was a hard loss for our team, but they that anyone else who was watching would have handled it like champions, with grace and thought for sure it was a victory celebration. As integrity. an administrator here at Johnsburg, to me it Several of our boys attended the game to support was. This display of loyalty, support and their fellow students and friends. They cheered friendship is the true win. I know that the loss the girls on while all the time keeping was hard for our girls, but that feeling will themselves in check to make sure the group did pass. What won’t pass is the feeling of being in not get out of hand. Everything I heard them say a group of friends and teammates and celebrating was positive in support of our team, and never being there for each other. That feeling will live anything negative to the other team. A few times on forever and will become part of their “glory one of the boys would say something like, “hey days” here at JCS. everyone we are getting too close to the line, and I am writing this article prior to the boys’ we need to move back”. Another time, in their sectional game because we have to go to press excitement, they got on each other’s backs with the newsletter. Without a doubt the cheering and when the fans from the other side support and school spirit I witnessed at the girl’s asked for them to get down because it was game will also be present at Crown Point.
