ITALY PERFORMANCE TOUR

DAY ONE: Monday, June 9, 2014 – SACRAMENTO DEPARTURE (meals/movies en route) 3:00am Arrive at your school and board coaches – transfer to SFO. By 5:00am Arrive at SFO, meet your World Projects Tour Manager and check in for your flights to . After checking in your luggage, move through security onto the departure gate. 8:00am Depart SFO for Rome via Toronto on Air Canada (AC) Flight #758. 3:54pm Arrive into Toronto and change to next gate. Dinner on own in Toronto Airport (time permitting). 7:45pm Depart Toronto for Rome on AC Flight #890. Overnight en route.

DAY TWO: Tuesday, June 10, 2014 – ARRIVE ROME (D) 10:20am Arrive into Rome – proceed with immigration and customs formalities. Meet your local tour escort (Anselmo) who will assist with boarding the coach. Transfer to central Rome. Enjoy an orientation walking tour with Anselmo in central Rome – highlights to include the Pantheon (ancient Roman temple and now a church) and the stunning Trevi Fountain. Afternoon: Lunch on own in central Rome (Campo di Fiori / Piazza Navona area). Transfer to local hotel and check-in. Evening: Welcome Dinner as a group at a traditional Roman restaurant. Return to the hotel for an early night.

DAY THREE: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 – ROME (B) – Performance (both groups) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, depart on a half-day guided tour of . Sites to include the stunning Colosseum and the Roman Forum which was formerly the religious, political, and commercial center of Rome and includes such sites as the House of the Vestal Virgins, and the Basilica of Constantine. Afternoon: Lunch on own in Rome. This afternoon is free to explore Rome on own. Late afternoon: Return to the hotel to get ready for this evening. Meet your coach and transfer to this evening’s performance venue. Short soundcheck at tonight’s concert venue. Evening: Dinner on own near concert venue. PERFORMANCE in Rome (possibly as part of the concert series at the ancient Roman ruin Teatro di Marcello or an exchange concert with the Associazione Marco Taschler). Following the performance, pack up your instruments and return to the hotel.

DAY FOUR: Thursday, June 12, 2014 – ROME (B) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, enjoy a guided half-day tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, with its breathtaking by Michelangelo, and the Raphael Rooms, which works established Raphael’s reputation in Rome. Discover the beauty of St. Peter’s Basilica, Catholicism’s most sacred shrine as well as St. Peter’s Square. View the “Pieta” by Michelangelo and the breathtaking interior work by Bernini. The visit also includes entrance to Dome climb for stunning views of the Vatican and Rome. Afternoon: Lunch on your own possibly in the Trastevere district. After lunch, enjoy free time for shopping and to explore Rome on own. Evening: This evening, transfer to the Trastevere neighborhood. Enjoy time to explore the open-air market and restaurants along the River in the Travestere neighborhood - dinner on own. Return to the hotel. .

DAY FIVE: Friday, June 13, 2014 – ROME → CASTIGLIONE DELLA PESCAIA (B,D) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, check-out of the hotel and board the coach. Depart for Castiglione della Pescaia along the Tuscany coast (~3 hour drive). Afternoon: Arrive into Castiglione della Pescaia - lunch on own upon arrival. After lunch, check into hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Castiglione della Pescaia – shop in the , explore the ancient medieval streets, and/or enjoy Castiglione della Pescaia’s beaches and waterfront (water activities such as kayaks, paddleboats, etc. are available at an extra cost). Evening: Dinner as a group in Castiglione della Pescaia. PERFORMANCE in Castiglione della Pescaia (likely as part of Castiglione della Pescaia’s regular summer concert series in Piazza Solti by the or Piazza Maristella by the beach). After the concert, return to the hotel.

DAY SIX: Saturday, June 14, 2014 – CASTIGLIONE DELLA PESCAIA → PISA → LEVIGLIANI (B) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. The morning and afternoon are free to enjoy Castiglione della Pescaia – shop in the old town, explore the ancient medieval streets, and/or enjoy Castiglione della Pescaia’s beaches and waterfront (water activities such as kayaks, paddleboats, etc. are available at an extra cost). Afternoon: Lunch on own. Check-out of the hotel and load the coach – depart for Pisa (~2 hour drive). Arrive into Pisa - enjoy a visit to Pisa’s (Square of Miracles) including entrance to the beautiful Duomo and climbing the famous Leaning Tower. After visiting the Piazza dei Miracoli, transfer into central Pisa. Evening: Dinner on own in central Pisa. After dinner, board the coach and transfer to the village of Levigliani in the Apuan Mountains – famous as a center for marble mining (~1.5 hour drive). Arrive into Levigliani and check into hotels.

DAY SEVEN: Sunday, June 15, 2014 – LUCCA / LEVIGLIANI (B, D with hosts) – Performance (both groups) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, transfer to Lucca (~1.5 hour drive). Arrive into the lovely walled city of Lucca – birthplace of Puccini and medieval rival to and Pisa. Enjoy a guided walking tour of Lucca. Afternoon: Lunch on own in Lucca. After lunch, return to Levigliani. Enjoy a joint rehearsal and social time with our hosts (Filarmonica S. Cecilia di Levigliani). Early Evening: Exchange PERFORMANCE with the Filarmonica S. Cecilia di Levigliani Evening: Dinner provided by our hosts. Return to the hotel.

DAY EIGHT: Monday, June 16, 2014 – LEVIGLIANI → LUCCA → FLORENCE (B,D) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out of the hotels in Levigliani and board the coach. Depart for Florence (~2.5 hour drive). Arrive into Florence – enjoy the view of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo then transfer to the city center. Early afternoon: Check into the hotel then walk to the Mercato Centrale. Afternoon: Lunch on own in the vicinity of the Mercato Centrale. After lunch, enjoy an orientation walking tour of the city. This walk will start at the Mercato Centrale and make our way to the Piazza del Duomo then walk to the through Piazza della Signoria (where the Uffizi Gallery and Palazzo Vecchio (Florence’s town hall) are located) and final finish at the famous famous Ponte Vecchio (more fabulous views). After the orientation tour, enjoy free time to explore Florence. Evening: Walk to restaurant – enjoy dinner as a group in Florence then return to the hotel

DAY NINE: Tuesday, June 17, 2014 – FLORENCE (B, D with hosts) – Performance (both groups) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, enjoy a visit to the renowned Uffizi Gallery – repository of the finest art of the Western world. Afternoon: Lunch on your own in Florence followed by free time to explore Florence on your own. Return to the hotel to get ready for this evening – transfer to tonight’s concert venue. Enjoy a joint rehearsal and social time with our hosts (likely the Music School of Campi Bisenzio). Evening: Dinner provided by our hosts. Exchange PERFORMANCE (likely with the Music School of Campi Bisenzio). Return to the hotel in Florence.

DAY TEN: Wednesday, June 18, 2014 – FLORENCE → → ASSISI (B,D) – Performance (both groups) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Walk to the Galleria dell’Accademia - enjoy a visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia – home of Michelangelo’s famous “David” statue - the “David” statue serves as a tribute to triumph over tyranny along with other statues commemorating major historical events. Afterwards, walk back to the hotel - check-out of the hotel, load the coach and depart for Siena (~1.5 hour drive). Late Morning: Arrive into medieval Siena – one of Tuscany’s loveliest towns and home to the famous Piazza del Campo. Free time to explore Siena on own. Afternoon: Lunch on own in Siena. After lunch, depart for or Citta di Castello (both towns are ~1.5 hour drive from Siena). Late Afternoon: Arrive into Perugia or Citta di Castello – soundcheck/rehearsal at tonight’s concert venue. Evening: Dinner as a group. PERFORMANCE in Perugia or Citta di Castello (details TBD). After the concert, transfer to Assisi and check into hotel.

DAY ELEVEN: Thursday, June 19, 2014 – ASSISI (B,D) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, enjoy a short walking tour of Assisi (home of St. Francis). The rest of the morning and afternoon are free to explore Assisi on your own (be sure to visit the famous Basilica which is free of charge). Afternoon: Lunch on own in Assisi. Free time on own in Assisi. Evening: This evening, enjoy a Farewell to dinner in central Assisi. After dinner, return to the hotel.

DAY TWELVE: Friday, June 20, 2014 – ASSISI → ROME → SACRAMENTO (B, meals/movies in flight) Early Morning: Box breakfast will be provided. Check out of the hotel, load the coach and depart for Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport (~3 hour drive). ~8:45am Arrive at Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport - check in for your flights, say good-bye to your local tour escort and WP tour manager and move through security onto your departure gate. Lunch on own at the airport (time permitting). 11:50am Depart Rome for SFO via Toronto on AC Flight #891. 3:40pm Arrive into Toronto – proceed with USA immigration and customs formalities then make your way to the next gate. 6:50pm Depart Toronto for on AC Flight #739. 9:22pm Arrive into SFO - collect your baggage, board the coach and transfer to Sacramento. ~1:00am (6-21) Arrive at Rio Americano HS.
