Broad-scale phylogenetic analyses of the angiosperms and of the Asteridae have failed to confidently resolve relationships among the major lineages of the campanulid Asteridae (i.e., the euasterid II of APG II, 2003). To address this problem we assembled presently available sequences for a core set of 50 taxa, representing the diver- sity of the four largest lineages (Apiales, Aquifoliales, Asterales, Dipsacales) as well as the smaller “unplaced” groups (e.g., Bruniaceae, Paracryphiaceae, Columelliaceae). We constructed four data matrices for phylogenetic analysis: a chloroplast coding matrix (atpB, matK, ndhF, rbcL), a chloroplast non-coding matrix (rps16 intron, trnT-F region, trnV-atpE IGS), a combined chloroplast dataset (all seven chloroplast regions), and a combined genome matrix (seven chloroplast regions plus 18S and 26S rDNA). Bayesian analyses of these datasets using mixed substitution models produced often well-resolved and supported trees. -

The new taxon is well documented with staminate and pistillate flowers, and fruits. Its small leaves and fruit are similar to those found in Calatola laevigata and C. uxpanapensis. It is also compared with Calatola costaricensis, with which it sometimes grows sympatrically in Brazil and Peru. The conservation status of the new taxa is assessed against IUCN criteria. Key words: Brazil, IUCN, Peru Introduction The genus Calatola Standley (1923: 688), including C. mollis Standley (1923: 689) and C. laevigata Standley (1923: 689), was referred to Icacinaceae. Alves1 RESUMO - O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes substratos para a produção de mudas de Emmotum nitens provenientes de diásporos armazenados por um período de 120 dias em dois ambientes – câmara fria e temperatura ambiente de laboratório. Foram avaliadas as medidas de crescimento da parte aérea, da raiz, número de folhas, diâmetro do caule e a relação raiz/parte aérea. A produção de mudas foi realizada no viveiro da Embrapa Cerrados, Planaltina – DF, onde Foi avaliada a produção de massa seca. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o DBC com 8 blocos x 3 tratamentos x 10 repetições. Para o plantio foram utilizados diásporos (sementes + mesocarpos), sendo plantados em três diferentes substratos/ tratamentos (T1 - 100% Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro; T2 - 70% de Solo do Cerradão + 30% de areia peneirada e T3 - 70% de solo do Cerradão + 20% de adubo orgânico + 10% de areia). A emergência das plântulas iniciou aos 28 dias após o plantio, estendo até os 95 dias. Não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos testados para a produção de mudas de E. nitens em relação ao número de folhas, diâmetro do coleto e na produção de massa seca total.
