Why consider Concentrated OYAP in Precision Machining/ Millwright? • Precision Machining/Millwright Concentrated OYAP is specifically designed to help secondary school students make a smooth transition directly into a career to complete their Apprenticeship • Of fers the curriculum for level 1 apprenticeship training as well as the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. Students must write exemption exams to achieve level 1 • This program can also be done as a Specialist High Skills Major, which would start in grade 11 • May shorten their apprenticeship by receiving apprenticeship hours while being registered as an OYAP Apprentice in Cooperative Education • May receive Standard First Aid, Adult CPR, Young Worker Awareness and WHMIS certification • May jump start their career with a potential employer while at their Coop placement How does this program work? This program consists of 2 grade 11 and 2 grade 12 credits and a minimum of 2 Cooperative Education credits. This program is available at MM Robinson High School in Burlington. It is recommended that the student begin the concentrated OYAP in grade 12. Opportunities in Machining/ Millwright OYAP You could find a very rewarding career as a general , tool and maker, , fitter welder, industrial mechanic/millwright, CNC programmer. Salary Varies greatly... You can make between $19/hr to $30/ hr or more.
