ADRODDIAD LLYWODRAETHOL I RIENI / GOVERNOR ANNUAL REPORT TO PARENTS YSGOL LLANBRYNMAIR 2019 - 2020
Gair gan y Cadeirydd
Mae'n bleser gennyf gyflwyno'r Adroddiad Blynyddol i Rieni Ffederasiwn Carno, Glantwymyn a Llanbrynmair ar ran y llywodraethwyr a staff yr ysgol. Cafodd pob un o'r tair ysgol ddechrau prysur a llwyddiannus i'r flwyddyn academaidd gyda chyfleoedd i ddisgyblion ryngweithio ar draws y Ffederasiwn a oedd yn cynnwys digwyddiadau chwaraeon, taith preswyl yng ngwersyll yr Urdd ym Mae Caerdydd a chyngerdd Nadolig yn y Tabernacl gyda chynrychiolwyr o'r tair ysgol yn y côr. Parhaodd y staff i gynnig cymorth a chydweithio ysgol i ysgol i sicrhau cysondeb mewn profiadau addysgu a dysgu a pharhaodd yr ysgolion i dderbyn athrawon a phenaethiaid o bob cwr o Gymru i arsylwi ar yr arfer da sydd gennym ar draws y Ffederasiwn. Fe welwch o'r adroddiad fod hon wedi bod yn flwyddyn anarferol oherwydd pandemig Covid 19 a olygodd fod yn rhaid i ysgolion gau o fis Mawrth i fis Gorffennaf. Oherwydd hyn, daeth tymor yr Haf â gofynion a heriau newydd nad ydym erioed wedi gorfod eu hwynebu o'r blaen. Yn dilyn cyhoeddiad bod rhaid cael cyfnod clo o Fawrth yr 20fed, cafodd cymuned yr ysgol gyfan ei gwthio'n sydyn i fyd dieithr iawn. Roedd yn rhaid i staff a disgyblion addasu'n gyflym i ffordd newydd o ddysgu, a dyma ddechrau ar sefydlu dysgu cyfunol gan staff. Roedd hyn yn glod i bob aelod o staff gan eu bod yn sicrhau bod gofal a chymorth ar gael i bob dysgwr. Wrth gwrs, ochr yn ochr â hyn, roedd yn rhaid i deuluoedd addasu i ddysgu gartref gyda'u plant ac mi wn o brofiad bod hyn yn cyflwyno heriau ynddo‘i hun! Croesawodd y staff y plant yn ôl ar gyfer y sesiynau 'Dal i fyny' yn ystod pedair wythnos olaf tymor yr Haf. Profodd rhain yn amhrisiadwy i les pob plentyn. Fel Ffederasiwn byddwn yn parhau i symud ymlaen, gan adeiladu ar ein llwyddiannau. Ar ran y Llywodraethwyr hoffwn ddiolch i'r staff am yr ymroddiad, yr hyblygrwydd, y creadigrwydd a'r gofal a ddangoswyd yn ystod y flwyddyn ac i pob rhiant am eich cefnogaeth parhaus i sicrhau bod pob ysgol yn mynd o nerth i nerth.
A word from the chair
It is my pleasure to present the Annual Report to Parents of the Federation of Carno, Glantwymyn and Llanbrynmair on behalf of the governors and school staff for this year. All three schools had a busy and successful start to the academic year with opportunities for pupils to interact across the Federation, which included various sporting events, a residential stay at the Urdd camp in Cardiff Bay and the Christmas concert at the Tabernacl with the Federation school choir. The staff continued to offer school to school support and continued to receive teachers and headteachers from around Wales to observe the good practice that we have within the Federation. You will see from the report that this has been an unusual year due to the Covid 19 pandemic which meant that schools had to close from March to July. Due to this, the Summer term brought new demands and challenges that we have never had to face before. Following the lockdown announcement on 20th March, the whole school community was suddenly thrust into the unknown. Both staff and pupils had to adapt quickly to the new way of learning and blended learning was established by staff. This really was remarkable and a credit to all members of staff as they ensured that the care and support of all learners was sustained. Of course, alongside this, families had to adjust to learning at home with their children which in itself presented challenges as we know! Staff welcomed the children back for the ‘Check in ‘sessions in the last four weeks of term. These proved to be invaluable for each child’s well-being. As a Federation we will continue to move forward, building on our successes. On behalf of the Governors I would like to thank the staff for the dedication, flexibility, creativity and care shown throughout the year and to all parents for your continued support to ensure that all three schools continue to thrive.

Governing Body meetings
The Governing Body meets every term to discuss school matters. Also there are many matters including the monitoring of standards and provision which are discussed regularly at meetings of the sub-committees. Governors have specific responsibilities for various aspects of school life and follow the Termly Monitoring Programme
Members of the Governing Body also attended statutory and non-statutory training sessions.
Travelling Allowances for Governors No travelling cost claims were received from Governors during 2019 - 2020.

Curriculum Statement
The school aims to provide a balanced curriculum in accordance with the requirements of the National Curriculum in order to stimulate the educational, emotional and social development of each individual child. The practice and procedures of the Foundation Phase are in place.
Differentiated strategies are used to develop the potential of every child to his/her full development. We aim to achieve the goals in a lively, intimate, interesting and creative way. The school policy documents can be viewed at the school in all subject areas; work plans in each subject area are also in place - in accordance with the guidelines of the National Curriculum. Pupils participate in sports as part of the curriculum and in extra-curricular activities. They also have swimming lessons. Additional information is available about the curriculum in the School Prospectus.
The policies and schemes of work are being continuously monitored and reviewed in accordance with any update changes. The staff of the schools plan together across the Federation and are following the same work plans as required by recent national developments.

Action Plans
The School has a Development Plan and it is fully operational. There is a close link between the school's self-evaluation documents that are reviewed annually. The school is monitoring the impact of the standards and the provision regularly as part of a Federation’s monitoring programme. The impact reports are shared with the Governing Body and the Authority’s Challenge Officer.

Datblygu Staff / Rheoli Perfformiad
Rheoli Perfformiad yw'r term a ddefnyddir i ddisgrifio'r broses o gytuno ar amcanion perfformiad blynyddol sy'n cynnwys trafodaethau rhwng athrawon a'u harweinwyr tîm, y Penaethiaid a'r Corff Llywodraethol.
Mae rheoli perfformiad yn cefnogi gwaith athrawon fel unigolion ac mewn timau. Mae'n sefydlu fframwaith ar gyfer athrawon a'u harweinwyr tîm i gytuno ac adolygu blaenoriaethau ac amcanion yng nghyd-destun cynllun datblygu'r ysgol. Mae'n cymell staff i fod yn fwy effeithiol yn eu haddysgu a’u harweinyddiaeth pwnc. Mae hyn yn ei dro yn arwain at godi safonau ar gyfer yr ysgol gyfan.
Mae’r staff addysgu yn gosod amcanion gyda'r Pennaeth ac mae cyfarfodydd adolygu yn cael eu cynnal gyda’r amcanion newydd yn cael eu nodi a'u trafod ar gyfer y flwyddyn sydd i ddod. Mae'r holl gynorthwywyr addysgu hefyd yn mynd drwy'r un broses ag uchod.
Mae’r ysgol yn derbyn nawdd Grant Gwella Ysgolion (GGY) er mwyn sicrhau bod staff yn derbyn hyfforddiant yn ystod y flwyddyn fel rhan o’u Datblygiad Proffesiynol. Dyma flas o’r Hyfforddiant Mewn Swydd a fynychwyd yn ystod y flwyddyn addysgol.
Staff Development / Performance Management
Performance Management is the term used to describe the process of agreeing annual performance objectives involving discussions between teachers and their team leaders, Headteachers and the Governing Body.
Performance management supports the work of teachers as individuals and in teams. It establishes a framework for teachers and their team leaders to agree and review priorities and objectives in the context of the school’s development plan. It motivates staff to be more effective in their teaching and subject leadership. This in turn leads to the raising of standards for the whole school.
Teaching staff set objectives with the Headteacher and review meetings take place and new objectives are identified and discussed for the forthcoming year. All teaching assistants also go through the same process as above.
The school receives an Education Improvement Grant (EIG) yearly to ensure that staff are able to access Professional Development. Below is an example of the training received by staff during the last academic year.

Awdurdod Addysg Leol ac ERW Local Education Authority and ERW

Mae’r ddarpariaeth ar gyfer disgyblion ag Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol yn cael ei monitro'n effeithiol gan y Llywodraethwyr, y Cydlynydd Anghenion Dysgu Ychwanegol a’r Staff Cynorthwyol o fewn yr ysgol. Amcanion y ddarpariaeth ADY yw bod yr holl dasgau, adnoddau a deunyddiau yn cael eu gwahaniaethu er mwyn cydweddu gwaith i anghenion disgyblion. Mae hyn yn cael ei adlewyrchu yn y cynlluniau gwaith ac unrhyw waith cynllunio sy'n cael ei ddatblygu ar y pryd. Rydym yn cydnabod plant abl a thalentog ac yn annog yr holl ddisgyblion i weithio i'w potensial gorau drwy weithgareddau ffurfiol ac anffurfiol. Mae'r holl ddisgyblion ar gofrestr ADY yn cael Cynllun Dysgu Unigol sy'n cael ei adolygu gyda'r plentyn ddwywaith y flwyddyn.
Rhaglenni Ymyrraeth Mae'r disgyblion sydd angen cymorth ychwanegol i ddatblygu sgiliau rhifedd a llythrennedd yn cael eu cefnogi gan ddefnyddio rhaglenni wythnosol er enghraifft Ddyfal Donc Llythrennedd. Mae’r disgyblion hefyd yn derbyn cefnogaeth o fewn y dosbarth er mwyn atgyfnerthu sgiliau llythrennedd a rhifedd o fewn y gwersi ffocws. Yn gyffredinol mae disgyblion sydd wedi derbyn cefnogaeth ymyrraeth wedi datblygu mwy o hyder ac wedi gwneud cynnydd da.
Hawliau Cyfartal, Anabledd a Chynllun Cydraddoldeb a Hygyrchedd Mae’r ysgol yn ymwybodol iawn o’i hymrwymiadau, yn gyfreithiol ac yn foesol, er mwyn osgoi camwahaniaethu. Ethos yr ysgol erioed fu ystyried pob plentyn yn unigol; ta waeth eu hoed, rhyw, hil, anabledd neu unrhyw wahaniaethau eraill. Nod yr ysgol yw helpu pob disgybl i gyrraedd ei botensial llawn trwy ei gynorthwyo’n briodol.
Fel ysgol rydym yn deall pa mor bwysig yw addysgu a dysgu effeithiol ac yn sicrhau bod y profiadau gorau posibl i bob disgybl yn yr ysgol. ADDITIONAL LEARNING NEEDS (ALN) The Governor for ALN is Mrs Mary Thomas. The provision for pupils with ALN is effectively monitored by the governors, ALN Co-ordinator and Support Staff within the school. ALN provision aims to ensure that all tasks, resources and materials are differentiated in order to match work to pupils' needs. This is reflected in the work plans and any planning that is being developed at the time. We recognise able and talented children and encourage all pupils to work to their best potential through formal and informal activities. All pupils on the ALN register will be provided with an Independent Learning Plan to be reviewed with the child twice a year.

Intervention Programmes The pupils who need additional support in order to develop numeracy and literacy skills are supported using the weekly programmes, for example, Catch Up Literacy and pupils who need additional support to reinforce Literacy and Numeracy have in-class support within the focused tasks. Generally, pupils who have received intervention develop more confidence and make good progress. Equal Rights, Disability and Equality and Access Plan The school is well aware of its obligations, legally and morally, to avoid discrimination. It has always been considered the ethos of the school that each child is treated as an individual; no matter their age, gender, race, disability or any other difference. The school aims to help all pupils to reach their full potential by supporting them appropriately. As a school we understand the importance of effective teaching and learning and ensure the best possible experiences for all pupils in the school. We ensure that all children with disabilities have the same experiences as everyone else at school. It is possible for children with physical disabilities to have access to all parts of the building. There is also a disabled toilet in the building.

Healthy Schools The school is part of the Powys Healthy Schools programme. Pupils are encouraged to eat fruit at morning snack times. The Foundation Phase pupils have milk free of charge during the morning break. The school cook follows the healthy menu set by Powys County Council. There is a water machine located outside the staffroom and pupils are encouraged to drink water throughout the day. The pupils grow vegetables in the garden to sell during the Summer Term and cook a variety of healthy goods by using produce from the garden to sell at the Christmas Fa yre. The school is part of the Design to Smile programme where the pupils in the Foundaion Phase class clean their teeth daily after lunch. The school has been awarded the 5th plaque in the Healthy Schools programme during the Summer term.

Welsh Charter The main aim of the charter is to create and increase the children’s social use of Welsh. We want to inspire our children and young people to use Welsh in every aspect of their lives. The Welsh Language Charter asks for a contribution from every member of the school community – the pupils, the school council, the staff, the parents, the governors and the community. The ‘Criw Cymraeg’ worked effectively to promote the use of the Welsh language throughout the school and within the community and as a result the school was awarded the Silver Award during the Summer term 2019. Since then they have been working towards achieving the Gold Award and have given a present ation in front of the Governors about what activities they have planned during the year and hope to be ready for their accreditation in the near future.

Sport and Extracurricular Activities The school provides a variety of sports activities in all aspects of Physical Education. Pupils gain skills and experiences from Reception to Year 6. Throughout the year pupils in the Junior class have had opportunities to participate in indoor athletics and Cross Country running under the supervision of the 5x60 sports officer for Bro Hyddgen. In addition to the 5x60 sporting activities the pupils have also competed in numerous Urdd sporting events which include, football, netball, and the swimming gala.
During year’s 5 & 6 visit to the Urdd camp in Cardiff during the Autumn term pupils enjoyed numerous activities which included a visit to the Principality Stadium, a ride in a speed boat across Cardiff Bay and a visit to Techniquest.
There is a strong link between the school and the Urdd and pupils have enriching experiences through following the programme of activities for the year. Every year, school staff and parents prepare pupils for the local, regional and national Eisteddfod and they achieve success in various competitions.
Parents receive a newsletter every term summarising all school activities and copies are available on the school website. The school Twitter account is also used to celebrate pupil successes.

Attendance The school follows clear steps for reducing the number of unauthorised absences. Pupils who arrive late can affect unauthorised absences. The school sends a letter to parents emphasising punctuality and drawing attention to the situation where some take holidays during term time. The school contacts parents/guardians where the attendance level is low or inconsistent.
