Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 www.manurewaafc.org.nz Hello again everyone and welcome to our first derby match for a couple of seasons. These matches are usually hard fought and entertaining regardless of where the teams currently stand on the results ladder. I expect today will be no different.

At Manurewa this year we have embarked on a new coaching strategy for the 1st and reserves teams and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Hoani, Nathan, Mark & Steve for giving it a real attempt.

We also have two relatively youthful sides this year that I would encourage to gel as a team, learn together and get stronger and better as individuals and as team players.

We also welcome a couple of players from overseas, penalty saver Mataias and what red card Pablo. I hope you guys have settled in and are enjoying your time playing for Manurewa. Also welcome back Stephen Carmichael to the club, [I coached him when he was a youngster, oh he still is a youngster] he has scored more goals in three games than one of his coaches did in a year, [let you guess who that is].

To our supporters, once again thank you for the great turn out in numbers, whether home or away, it’s what gets this club mentioned in one way or another and I'm sure it does lift our teams. Keep up the good work.

Next week we have our first game and we host an overseas team for the first time. Waiheke. Ilook forward to a great turn out for that one.

Welcome back this week to all youth and juniors, hope you enjoyed your break, now get back into it.

That's all for now [don't know if I'll be asked again to write on behalf of Kerry] watch this space!

Wayne Jensen [Vice Chairman]

Welcome once again to all our Manurewa supporters and a warm welcome to Papatoetoe.

Its been a while since I have played or had a team play against our old rivals, Papatoetoe AFC. But I'm sure that the rivalry will continue once the whistle goes. We will be looking at making sure we continue our good run of form and making it four from four after the final whistle goes today.

Papatoetoe are struggling at the moment and we need to make sure that we secure the points to keep in touch with the top sides.

The reserves had a comprehensive win last Saturday with a 3-0 win over Metro where we dominated the majority of the game and I felt the first half was probably our best football of the season to date. But it will count for nothing if we can't follow through this week.

Good luck to all Manurewa sides this weekend and look forward to seeing you in the club rooms afterwards.

12 Papatoetoe AFC (NRFL1) 6 0 1 5 5 27 -22 1 Senior Report

Hi everybody—hope you all had a great week/weekend.

Well, the seniors had a mixed bag last week with 3wins, 3draws and 1 loss. So in all, a pretty good round.

The first team had a hard fort game and even though dominating the last 20 minutes against Metro, just couldn’t get the winning goal. Heads up boys, keep training hard and the results will come.

The reserve’s had a great win against Metro winning 3 nil and putting them in 4th equal. Well done guys keep it up.

The Div 4 had another draw 3 all, against Fencibles which has them unbeaten so far this year. Awesome effort.

The Div 6 guys had another heavy defeat, going down 8 nil to South Auckland Rangers. These guys are trying so hard but are in desperate need of some more players, as they only had 9 players, making it very hard. If you know of anybody please contact me on 0212705509 and let’s get this team back on track— thanks.

The Over 30’s had their second win of the year, beating Metro 3-2 so getting their season back on track after the defeat against Fencibles a couple of week ago. Well done guys.

The Over 35 masters are back on track with their first win of the year, with a 3 nil drumming of Tuakau Old Boys. Great to see all that training is paying off.

The ladies are trucking on nicely with yet another draw, this time against away. That keeps them unbeaten in all three games this year with all draws. Let’s hope they can get their first win on Sunday at home against Otahuhu. I’m sure they would love to see you all there on Sunday for support. Keep it up girls.

The Under 19’s had second win of the year, 3nil over North Shore United because they didn’t show. Although they would have preferred to play, I’m sure they are happy with the 3 points. They are away to Fencibles on Sunday - good luck guys.

Don’t forget the Senior draw at 6pm after the games for a $50 bar tab, also don’t be shy to part with $2 and buy a raffle ticket, they are a pretty awesome meat packs.

P.S Please get your FEES paid. LADIES REPORT

After having a week off we were a bit rusty when we travelled to Waikaraka Park last Sunday.

It was a tightly contested game and we were dominated for most of the first half. Needless to say we went into the second half of the game a goal down but full of enthusiasm. The game remained a hotly contested game and with 60 seconds to go saw us have a throw in. Ball came in and was passed to Kaf Alderton who's shot rebounded out straight to Natalie Lamb who was backing up at the back post. Result 1 all draw.

There were a few contenders for POD but Lisa Stables our goalie who we discovered off season was the final winner.

Looking forward to a home game this week against Otahuhu.

Robynne Hubbard Coach

Youth Report Hi everyone

We are back after a two week break for Easter and the school holidays. Hope you all had a restful couple of weeks.

The grading round has only had two games played to date, with a numberof our teams unbeaten. Martin Rodwells’ boys, Lightning, are a squad of 12 year old boys playing up in the 13th grade. They are treating this season as a development year but are doing well with a win and a draw. They were away to Eastern Suburbs this morning so hopefully they bought home the points. Ben Hill, coach of 16th Pumas who are playing in the 16th Metro Conference league on Sundays. They began their season straight into the competition of their league and are doing well with two wins. Tomorrow, they are away to Ellerslie. 11th Cougars coached by Craig Hastings, 14th Force coached by Lee Purdie, 14th Vipers coached by Dave Pegler and 15th Gold coached by Glenn Tabor are all sitting on 1 win and 1 draw.

Best of luck to all teams within the club for their games today.

YOUTH PLAYER OF THE DAY Takes place every game day around 3pm after the Juniors. Players need to register at the Youth table prior to this. Any Youth player is eligible to enter the Youth Draw of a $15 non-alcoholic bar tab.

Juniors 2014 Season

A good start to the season, lots of new and enthusiastic faces out there. I have been fortunate enough to see some of the 9th/10th graders play and looking forward to a chance to get out to Bruce Pullman to see some of our younger teams. I took a few random photos of Mustangs and Sharks. Both teams are 9th grade this year, the Sharks were previously the Thunderbolts and our Mustangs are a group of talented 8th graders on a development year in the 9th grade. We wish every team success this season and look forward to parents/coaches/managers visiting the Manurewa AFC Junior and Youth Facebook to put up their own photos of their day.

Quick Intro on the Junior Committee If you have any questions as the season moves along please don’t hesitate to contact one of the awesome junior committee members. We are available at [email protected] or if you see us at the club come and have a chat. Todd Murphy our Chairman (he does everything), Kirsten Jury is Comms (usually the person an- swering your email), Rochelle Meharry is our secretary (keeps us in line) and Dave Bell is stepped up this year to assist the committee in a general capacity which he does so well.

Senior Club Draw has gone back to the $50 per week bar tab. Financial members register before 6pm each Saturday to be in to win. Draw takes place at 6pm sharp.

COFFEE COFFEE

Do you need a wake up coffee in the mornings!!! We now have coffee available every Saturday morning in the clubrooms from 9am.
