Vs PAPATOETOE AFC LOTTO NRFL Division 1 3 MAY 2014 2.45pm Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 www.manurewaafc.org.nz Hello again everyone and welcome to our first derby match for a couple of seasons. These matches are usually hard fought and entertaining regardless of where the teams currently stand on the results ladder. I expect today will be no different. At Manurewa this year we have embarked on a new coaching strategy for the 1st and reserves teams and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Hoani, Nathan, Mark & Steve for giving it a real attempt. We also have two relatively youthful sides this year that I would encourage to gel as a team, learn together and get stronger and better as individuals and as team players. We also welcome a couple of players from overseas, penalty saver Mataias and what red card Pablo. I hope you guys have settled in and are enjoying your time playing for Manurewa. Also welcome back Stephen Carmichael to the club, [I coached him when he was a youngster, oh he still is a youngster] he has scored more goals in three games than one of his coaches did in a year, [let you guess who that is]. To our supporters, once again thank you for the great turn out in numbers, whether home or away, it’s what gets this club mentioned in one way or another and I'm sure it does lift our teams. Keep up the good work. Next week we have our first Chatham Cup game and we host an overseas team for the first time. Waiheke. Ilook forward to a great turn out for that one. Welcome back this week to all youth and juniors, hope you enjoyed your break, now get back into it. That's all for now [don't know if I'll be asked again to write on behalf of Kerry] watch this space! Its been a while since I have played or had a team play against our old rivals, Papatoetoe AFC. But I'm sure that the rivalry will continue once the whistle goes. We will be looking at making sure we continue our good run of form and making it four from four after the final whistle goes today. Papatoetoe are struggling at the moment and we need to make sure that we secure the points to keep in touch with the top sides. The reserves had a comprehensive win last Saturday with a 3-0 win over Metro where we dominated the majority of the game and I felt the first half was probably our best football of the season to date. But it will count for nothing if we can't follow through this week. Good luck to all Manurewa sides this weekend and look forward to seeing you in the club rooms afterwards. Well, the seniors had a mixed bag last week with 3wins, 3draws and 1 loss. So in all, a pretty good round. The first team had a hard fort game and even though dominating the last 20 minutes against Metro, just couldn’t get the winning goal. Heads up boys, keep training hard and the results will come. The reserve’s had a great win against Metro winning 3 nil and putting them in 4th equal. Well done guys keep it up. The Div 4 had another draw 3 all, against Fencibles which has them unbeaten so far this year. Awesome effort. The Div 6 guys had another heavy defeat, going down 8 nil to South Auckland Rangers. These guys are trying so hard but are in desperate need of some more players, as they only had 9 players, making it very hard. If you know of anybody please contact me on 0212705509 and let’s get this team back on track— thanks. The Over 30’s had their second win of the year, beating Metro 3-2 so getting their season back on track after the defeat against Fencibles a couple of week ago. Well done guys. The Over 35 masters are back on track with their first win of the year, with a 3 nil drumming of Tuakau Old Boys. Great to see all that training is paying off. The ladies are trucking on nicely with yet another draw, this time against Onehunga Sports away. That keeps them unbeaten in all three games this year with all draws. Let’s hope they can get their first win on Sunday at home against Otahuhu. I’m sure they would love to see you all there on Sunday for support. Keep it up girls. The Under 19’s had second win of the year, 3nil over North Shore United because they didn’t show.
