Vs Hibiscus Coast Vs Hibiscus Coast LOTTO NRFL Division 1 19 July 2014 2.45pm Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Welcome to Hibiscus Coast first team and Reserves to Memorial Park Manurewa. It has now been two weeks without a game and with the current weather patterns we could still be playing at Labour weekend. To all teams thank you for helping out and making life a little easier by holding back on training and keeping off the fields. For the youth and juniors having school holidays could not have been better. To the top side this well be your third game against Hibiscus Coast this season so this will be a good gauge as to where we will sit as the season progresses. Also at home today at the same time is our over 30’s and 35’s so plenty happening at the park today. With all teams assigned their raffle tickets please make the effort to sell them. The prizes are great and this is the icing on the cake which enables us to keep the club running. As you can see some property maintenance and decorating isn’t far away again. We are still working with council on ground plans and building ownership. It will take time but with Jellicoe Park to go ahead off season the team is making small inroads. Thanks to ball girls and boys. See you at the game Kerry Bevan President Photos supplied by Phototek Reserve Coaches Comments Its been a frustrating couple of weeks for the reserve side with games postponed due to the inclement weather we have been having. This week we face a Hibiscus Coast side who sit on 13 points whilst we sit on 16, but also sit 4 places below us. This tells a story in itself how congested the bottom half of the draw is in relation to points, and one slip up against these sides allows the pack to get even tighter. Hibiscus will be fuming as they let a 2-0 lead slip away a fortnight ago against Papatoetoe eventually losing 3-2, and we will need to make sure that we start well, especially not having played for a couple of weeks if we want to take the 3 points. I’m sure the boys will be up for it if their remarks when receiving the texts that the games have been postponed from Anja are anything to go by, and I could see they were itching to play when we had a hit out against the under 19s on Tuesday night. Good luck to all Manurewa sides this weekend and will see you afterwards. Steve Wood HIBISCUS COAST Reserves Reserves GK Dillan Patel 1. John Amodeo GK Jared Karam 2. Paul Masson 2 Adam Spencer 3. It’s been a while since the boys have been able to take the field with this particularly bad Auckland weather, so everyone is looking forward to getting out and actually playing. A guy who really wants to play this week is Pablo Yackson, coincidentally conspired against to miss the majority of the last two encounters against Hibiscus Coast, he will be looking to have a big impact this week. We have met Hibiscus Coast twice already this season, with a sending off affecting the first match and a single goal to Hibiscus Coast in extra time separating the Chatham Cup tie. I’m sure both teams know the other to some degree, so this one will is sure to be a tight affair. The second round may only be 2 games in, but it has seen us really turn a corner with our performances, especially in the effort and commitment department. Against Mangere, we felt we deserved the 3 points with more than 10 clear cut opportunities created, but our finishing left a lot to be desired and is something we will work on as the season continues. We welcomed Steve Ashby (pictured) back to the club and he reminded us what he can do, with a good finish to earn the point, and will look to push for more goals and assists the rest of the way in. If we can keep creating the chances, we will start banging them in eventually. As long as the effort and commitment is there week-in week-out, you’ll certainly keep the coaching staff happy, and the results will take care of themselves. We also welcome back Marvin Eakins who returned from a few weeks off in Brazil watching the World Cup to feature for the Futsal Whites in the Trans-Tasman Cup last week. The club is proud to have such a high calibre player and person leading us out week in week out, congrats Marv. Here’s hoping there aren’t any more futsal tournaments scheduled for the next couple of months… Writing this 3 days out from the game, I’m going to assume the pitch is in pristine condition and ready to host a great example of football. Hope everyone has brought their moulds… Thanks, Nath, H & Mark Lotto Northern League Division1 1 Mataias Contreas 2 Stephen Ashby-Peckham 3 Robert Garcia 4 Leo Shin 5 Justin Horan 6 Cole Devenport 7 Marvin Eakins 8 David Shin 9 Gurpreet Singh 10 Kieran Nevey 11 Mathew Thomas 12 Troy Cleave 13 Logan Hart 14 Hoani Edwards 15 Myron Manickum 16 Brody Cleave 17 Patrick Hayden 18 Pablo Yackson 19 Callum McKenzie 20 Theara Thay Res GK Jared Karam Coaches: Hoani Edwards Nathan Christie Mark Armstrong GK Coach: Craig Hastings Manager: Adrian Stewart Match Officials: Bruce Horrox Anthony Barnes James Ashford Ball Boys: 9th Sharks HIBISCUS COAST Lotto Northern League Division 1 1 JOHN FLETCHER 3 MITCH CAIRN 4 RICK HYDE 5 ALEX PRIOR 6 TOM DALE 7 BEN JONES 8 MIKE CYRA 9 JAMES LAWSON 10 DAN CYRA © 11 DAN BUNGARD 12 JULES HALKYARD 14 CHRIS SMART 15 ZANE OLLA 16 PAUL LANGFORD 17 TRENT MAYES 18 LEO NEIL 19 SAM BARNFIELD COACH CRAIG DALY ASS COACH KARL HOBMAN ASS COACH RICK HYDE PHYSIO NICOLA SHANKS POS TEAM P W D L For Agst GD PTS 1 Eastern Suburbs (NRFL1) 14 10 4 0 27 8 19 34 2 Western Springs (NRFL1) 14 9 3 2 34 18 16 30 3 Ellerslie AFC (NRFL1) 14 8 4 2 40 17 23 28 4 Hibiscus Coast (NRFL1) 14 8 1 5 33 25 8 25 5 Melville United AFC (NRFL1) 14 6 3 5 29 25 4 21 6 Mangere Utd (NRFL1) 14 6 2 6 27 32 -5 20 7 Takapuna AFC (NRFL1) 14 6 1 7 36 36 0 19 8 Mt Albert Ponsonby (NRFL1) 14 5 1 8 25 21 4 16 9 North Shore Utd (NRFL1) 14 3 4 7 25 34 -9 13 10 Metro FC (NRFL1) 14 2 5 7 20 39 -19 11 11 Manurewa AFC (NRFL1) 13 2 2 9 14 25 -11 8 12 Papatoetoe AFC (NRFL1) 13 2 2 9 13 43 -30 8 MID SEASON REPORT OVER 30’s Hi all. Our over 30s this season have had a mixed season so far this year. With half the season gone we are mid table with a game in hand. Our season would be better if we didn't have a habit of hitting the post or cross bar and having a few of our boys out with injuries. At one stage I think there was 7 of us out. But after our last 4 games we have won 2 and only lost 1 to the league leaders by 1-0 and we hit the post in that game and drawing 3 weeks ago with Unimount.

Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Welcome to Western Springs who sit in second spot for Northern League Division one. Last Sundays result wasn’t what we wanted but I have to say that the signs are there and with some accurate shooting and passing the result could have been a lot different. To both sides keep the effort up and I look forward to the start of the second round. I am positive we will start to see the results we as members, coaches and players want. A reminder that it is the second round of the Chatham Cup against Hibiscus Coast away on Monday 2nd June at 2pm. So folks think about the trip up again and hopefully a change in results. Sorry to see the Division Six side disbanded but to those who gave it a go well done. Hopefully something to work on for next year. I’m looking forward to seeing a game at home this week after being away for awhile. Sometimes work gets in the road of sport. Good luck to all sides, enjoy your sport. That’s the only female match scheduled for Sunday due to the weekend earlier being set aside for the ASB Women’s Knockout Cup and it’s a fitting encounter to take centre stage. Glenfield are one of four sides in the hunt for the title and a win would put them top on goal difference. In the men’s Premier League, Eastern Suburbs can take another step towards the title with a victory over Birkenhead United while North Shore United’s hosting of Ellerslie is the highlight of Division One. The game of greatest consequence in Division Two is the southern derby between Papatoetoe and Papakura City, who both need the points for contrasting reasons – Papatoetoe to boost their fight against relegation and Papakura to strengthen their title charge.

Premier League leaders Eastern Suburbs and third-placed Central United are both involved in the cup quarter-finals, meaning the likes of Hamilton Wanderers, Onehunga Sports and Glenfield Rovers can all make up some vital ground. The clash between Wanderers and Sports at Porritt Stadium will be the highlight on Saturday while Glenfield have to deal with a testing trip to resurgent Melville United. There is a massive game in Division One with Forrest Hill-Milford United playing host to Tauranga City United, the outcome of which will have huge consequences in the battle for promotion. The same can be said of the meeting between Oratia United and North Force in Division Two while the season-defining fixtures keep coming with the women’s action on Sunday. Whoever comes out on top as Forrest Hill travel to Claudelands Rovers is likely to go on and win the Women’s Premier title, meaning Glenfield must make sure they sweep aside Norwest United and pray for a draw in the big title decider at Claudelands’ Galloway Park home.

Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 www.manurewaafc.org.nz Hello again everyone and welcome to our first derby match for a couple of seasons. These matches are usually hard fought and entertaining regardless of where the teams currently stand on the results ladder. I expect today will be no different. At Manurewa this year we have embarked on a new coaching strategy for the 1st and reserves teams and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Hoani, Nathan, Mark & Steve for giving it a real attempt. We also have two relatively youthful sides this year that I would encourage to gel as a team, learn together and get stronger and better as individuals and as team players. We also welcome a couple of players from overseas, penalty saver Mataias and what red card Pablo. I hope you guys have settled in and are enjoying your time playing for Manurewa. Also welcome back Stephen Carmichael to the club, [I coached him when he was a youngster, oh he still is a youngster] he has scored more goals in three games than one of his coaches did in a year, [let you guess who that is]. To our supporters, once again thank you for the great turn out in numbers, whether home or away, it’s what gets this club mentioned in one way or another and I'm sure it does lift our teams.

A special mention must go to our council contractor for his effort at line marking. They never fail to amaze me.
