Vs Eastern Suburbs Vs Eastern Suburbs LOTTO NRFL Division 1 5 July 2.45pm Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Today we welcome Eastern Suburbs both first and reserves. We are well aware of their position as league leaders and our first game against them was a cracker. I will expect nothing less today. Last week against Mangere United we put it together and were unlucky not to get the three points. I have been saying it over the last few weeks we are showing our strengths. A special mention must go to our council contractor for his effort at line marking. They never fail to amaze me. Thanks to Richard Coe for the use of his hard roller and Jamie for rolling the pitch as best we could. The season has now turned to winter mode. To all teams, bare with us while we do our best to get you back training. I would also mention my team is still in. Go the Dutch. Remember your tickets to the raffle. Your support is essential. To all the ball boys and girls your efforts are appreciated. We wish more clubs would do it. It shows your support for the first team. Thanks again. Kerry Bevan President WE NEED YOUR HELP Pablo Yackson is a crucial member of our first team and has recently shifted to New Zealand from South America. He arrived leaving his family behind to organise a new start for them in New Zealand also. After months of hard work we have received Pablos visa to stay and work in New Zealand and now we need your help. Pablo and the family are looking for a place to live and work (for his wife also—most things considered). The family arrive in July and we are hoping that someone in the club has a way to help. We would ask that if you have any way at all to help, we would encourage you to make contact with a Club official . As you can appreciate, this is a reasonably urgent situation and we will be grateful for any level of assistance. We are a family in our club and let us welcome our new additions. Reserve Coaches Comments Hi and welcome today to Eastern Suburbs and their supporters. Today is another important day for ourselves to try and pick up another 3 points after last weekends emphatic 6-0 win over a disorganised Mangere United side. With Suburbs sitting 8 points ahead of us, today is a good day to start closing the gap between us and them. It was a close affair in the first round with Suburbs winning 1-0 in the dying minutes of the game, but the loss of some key players have seem them falter in the last few weeks. We need to start well, which is why we have fallen down against the top 2 sides in previous weeks giving them 2 and 3 goals advantage early on before coming back. We also need to be a lot more clinical in front of goal compared to last week against Mangere, where we could have easily racked up10 goals had we taken all of our chances. Good luck to all Manurewa sides this weekend and will see you afterwards. We especially welcome back some familiar faces from previous years, Gerome Power, Fan-Favourite Matt Fast-Hands Francis, Eammoan &… James Davidson…? We went down 1-0 in a close-fought game at Madills Farm in the first round and are looking to return the favour here today but with Suburbs atop the league and yet to drop 3 points, I’m sure they won’t make it easy on us. The second round may only be 2 games in, but it has seen us really turn a corner with our performances, especially in the effort and commitment department. Last week against Mangere, we felt we deserved the 3 points with more than 10 clear cut opportunities created, but our finishing left a lot to be desired and is something we will work on as the season continues. If we can keep creating the chances, we will start banging them in eventually. As long as the effort and commitment is there week-in week-out, you’ll certainly keep the coaching staff happy, and the results will take care of themselves. Writing this 3 days out from the game, I’m going to assume the pitch is in pristine condition and ready to host a great example of football. Hope everyone has brought their moulds… Thanks, Nath, H & Mark Lotto Northern League Division1 1 Mataias Contreas 2 Stephen Ashby-Peckham 3 Robert Garcia 4 Leo Shin 5 Justin Horan 6 Cole Devenport 7 Marvin Eakins 8 David Shin 9 Gurpreet Singh 10 Kieran Nevey 11 Mathew Thomas 12 Troy Cleave 13 Logan Hart 14 Hoani Edwards 15 Myron Manickum 16 Brody Cleave 17 Patrick Hayden 18 Pablo Yackson 19 Callum McKenzie 20 Theara Thay Res GK Jared Karam Coaches: Hoani Edwards Nathan Christie Mark Armstrong GK Coach: Craig Hastings Match Officials: Nick van der Salm Paul Mason John McCoskrie Ball Boys: Youth Players EASTERN SUBURBS Lotto Northern League Division 1 NOT AVAILABLE POS TEAM P W D L For Agst GD PTS 1 Eastern Suburbs (NRFL1) 13 10 3 0 26 7 19 33 2 Ellerslie AFC (NRFL1) 12 8 3 1 38 14 24 27 3 Western Springs (NRFL1) 13 8 3 2 32 17 15 27 4 Hibiscus Coast (NRFL1) 13 8 1 4 32 23 9 25 5 Mangere Utd (NRFL1) 13 6 2 5 27 30 -3 20 6 Takapuna AFC (NRFL1) 13 6 1 6 35 33 2 19 Melville United AFC 7 12 5 2 5 25 23 2 17 (NRFL1) Mt Albert Ponsonby 8 13 4 1 8 22 20 2 13 (NRFL1) 9 Metro FC (NRFL1) 13 2 5 6 19 36 -17 11 10 North Shore Utd (NRFL1) 12 2 3 7 22 33 -11 9 11 Manurewa AFC (NRFL1) 13 2 2 9 14 25 -11 8 12 Papatoetoe AFC (NRFL1) 12 1 2 9 11 42 -31 5 MID SEASON REPORT OVER 30’s Hi all. Our over 30s this season have had a mixed season so far this year. With half the season gone we are mid table with a game in hand. Our season would be better if we didn't have a habit of hitting the post or cross bar and having a few of our boys out with injuries. At one stage I think there was 7 of us out. But after our last 4 games we have won 2 and only lost 1 to the league leaders by 1-0 and we hit the post in that game and drawing last weekend with Unimount. We are away this week to Western Springs. Good luck to army Nathan and H this week and will catch up after the game for a beer. Giggsy Manurewa O35’s 2014 After much deliberation, pondering and soul searching this group of tired, retired and broken ex-footballers decided it was time to give birth to an Over 35’s team within the club. The birth of the inaugural over 35’s team occurred on the 5th April 2014. With a keen, enthusiastic group of 18 (6 extra needed for injuries and softness) the season kicked off with 2 loses. After such a great start training was postponed and the next four games were won with a little grit, determination and lot of sledging. Three losses followed with injuries the major feature of those three weeks. Back on track next week with a 2 nil win over a team we lost to in the first round. With the return of Brian Feldtman from his unannounced trip to the motherland, we can only look forward to better things.

Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Welcome to Mangere United to the second round of the NRFL first and reserves. This is second of four home games. Over these weeks of home fixtures it is time to get in behind both sides with the support they need to cross the line and turn the tables around. Don’t give up. Last week’s game was a goody and playing like that is what’s needed week in and out. As the season moves on think back as to whose helping, organising, doing that bit extra, managing, in all areas of the club so their names can be put forward to the different committees for possible end of year awards. I mentioned a couple last week. You should all by now have your raffle tickets yes even I got a book. Put in the effort - I have 5 left easy to sell with the great prizes. To all members a reminder that the club draw is at 6pm and while you wait with a drink or two or something from the cafe, sit and discuss the what could have been or now to make it better for all those involved with the game.
