Vs Mangere United Vs Mangere United LOTTO NRFL Division 1 28 June 2.45pm Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Welcome to Mangere United to the second round of the NRFL first and reserves. This is second of four home games. Over these weeks of home fixtures it is time to get in behind both sides with the support they need to cross the line and turn the tables around. Don’t give up. Last week’s game was a goody and playing like that is what’s needed week in and out. As the season moves on think back as to whose helping, organising, doing that bit extra, managing, in all areas of the club so their names can be put forward to the different committees for possible end of year awards. I mentioned a couple last week. You should all by now have your raffle tickets yes even I got a book. Put in the effort - I have 5 left easy to sell with the great prizes. To all members a reminder that the club draw is at 6pm and while you wait with a drink or two or something from the cafe, sit and discuss the what could have been or now to make it better for all those involved with the game. See you on the side line at the park. Kerry Bevan President WE NEED YOUR HELP Pablo Yackson is a crucial member of our first team and has recently shifted to New Zealand from South America. He arrived leaving his family behind to organise a new start for them in New Zealand also. After months of hard work we have received Pablos visa to stay and work in New Zealand and now we need your help. Pablo and the family are looking for a place to live, a car and work (most things considered) so he can travel to work and get to our games. The family arrive in July and we are hoping that someone in the club has a way to help. We would ask that if you have any way at all to help, we would encourage you to make contact with a Club official . As you can appreciate, this is a reasonably urgent situation and we will be grateful for any level of assistance. We are a family in our club and let us welcome our new additions. Reserve Coaches Comments Hi and welcome to the Mangere teams and their supporters. Today will be an important day for us to make sure that we take 3 points today as to be fair, Mangere have been struggling a bit so far this season. But too often this season, these are the games that we have let slip from our grasp. We need to make sure that we can pick up the 3 points as the lower teams start gaining on us, and 3 points today will give us a boost in confidence and also start moving us away from the lower sides. Last week, saw us host league leaders Ellerslie, and after being 3-0 down after 26 minutes, I wanted to dig a hole and crawl into it. But to the boys credit, they dug deep and went in at 3-2 down. We dominated the 2nd half, but the one chance Ellerslie did get, they were able to convert, and it was a late goal by Yash Singh that saw us defeated 4-3. Good performances were put in by several players, but none so more than Paul Edgar and Theara Thay who both worked tirelessly all game. Thanks to the under 19 players that also stepped in to help us out as we were down on players. We went down 2-0 at Mangere’s Centre Park in the first round earlier in the year and are looking to return the favour today. With Mangere being up near the top of the table I’m sure they will be looking to push for a top 3 spot, and with some of the quality they possess, and the standard South Auckland rivalry, it sets itself up for an exciting spectacle today. While we realise the position we sit on the points table, we showed for 85 minutes last week, and even the 30 minutes when we went down to 10 men, that we can compete with the teams up the top of with a mix of hard work and organisation. If we can take that, along with 11 players, into the rest of our games this season, I’m sure the results will come. We have added a couple of players recently who will provide us with some more attacking options as we go in search for goals. In this league, offence is the best form of defence, and we certainly need to start creating chances and scoring goals to get the results we desire. And there isn’t a Manurewa supporter out there who doesn’t like to see their team scoring goals and creating chances, so we are hoping to give the crowd what they want to see to pay them back for all the amazing support they continue to provide. Last weekend our Under 19s had a big win 5—0 over Fencibles which was a good come back from the previous weekend. They are currently sitting in the middle of the table. Tomorrow, they have a bye. Div 4 had a win by default to Unimount due to numbers. Unimount agreed to the default then both teams had a very short friendly match lasting 25 minutes. Such a short game—maybe the ref couldn’t keep up or they wanted to make sure the showers were hot!!! The team are sitting 2nd equal on the table. This afternoon they are away to Fencibles. The Over 30s came off a Bye and won their match —2 0 over Mt Albert Ponsonby. Hopefully the boys can pick up another 3 points today against Unimount on No. 3 and move them up the table. Over 35s had a 2—0 win over Beachlands Maraetai which was a good result after going down to Mangere United last weekend. They are away this afternoon to Tuakau Old Boys where another 3 points will help them in there bid to move up the table.

Our stated aim is to gain promotion back to the Premier League immediately. We realise that will not be an easy task, with a number of clubs having the same intention, and we expect a tough fight to achieve that aim. However, the club will be working hard on the field and off to give our team the best opportunity to compete well in Division 1 and through that to achieve our goal of Premier League for 2017.
