THE SCHOOL Subiaco Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory boarding and day school for young men. The school, founded in 1887, is an educational apostolate of the Benedictine monks of Subiaco Abbey. Accredited by the North Central Association (NCA), Independent Schools Association of Central States (ISACS), and the Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (ANSAA), Subiaco Academy is also a member of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS).

ENROLLMENT AND DIVERSITY For the 2018-19 school year, the student body consists of 156 students. The distribution of students is as follows: 39 seniors, 35 juniors, 41 sophomores, 19 freshmen, 11 eighth graders and 10 seventh graders. The Academy has students from Alabama, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, , South Carolina, , Texas, and Wisconsin. Approximately 7% of the student body is international with students representing the countries of , Curacao, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Vietnam.

FACULTY The faculty consists of 8 women and 20 men, including 5 Benedictine monks. The faculty members hold 31 baccalaureate degrees, 16 graduate degrees, and 1 doctorate from colleges and universities in the United States. The student to full-time teacher ratio is 9:1, and the average class size is 15.

ADMISSION Students are accepted on the basis of their previous school records, recommendations, an interview, and a placement exam. Students attend the Academy by invitation only. Yearly invitations are contingent upon academic and behavioral performance.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Every student has the opportunity to participate in afterschool activities. Subiaco Academy competes with public schools in quiz bowl, football, basketball, tennis, soccer, baseball, track and field, cross-country, and golf. Students are able to gain valuable leadership experience through selective organizations such as the Student Council, National Honor Society, and the Blue Arrow, which is a hand selected group of student leaders who represent the Academy to prospective families. Additionally, students can participate in clubs and organizations such as Jazz Ensemble, Drama, the Amateur Radio Club, Cultural Awareness at Subiaco Academy (CASA), Future Business Leaders of America, and Robotics.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Beginning this academic year, Subiaco Academy will offer two programs of study, the College Preparatory Program and the College Preparatory Honors Program. The College Preparatory Program (CPP) facilitates college preparedness through the pursuit of a standard course of study which allows students to receive instruction at a moderate pace. The College Preparatory Honors Program (CPH) is designed for students who have mastered the standard course requirements and are ready to pursue an accelerated and enriched level of skills in all subject areas. Students in the CPH Program will be required to have two years of study in the same second language and will be required to take accelerated, Pre-Advanced Placement, Advanced Placement and/or Concurrent Credit courses in all subject areas where available. Graduation requires completion of 26 academic units and 20 hours of community service each year enrolled.

CONCURRENT CREDIT COURSE OFFERINGS In cooperation with Arkansas Tech University, Subiaco offers concurrent credit for Composition I/II & Biology I/II.

GRADING SYSTEM AND RANK Grade Point Averages are computed on a 4.00 scale based on the following conversion chart. The current grading scale is as follows: 90-100 =A; 80-89 =B; 70-79 =C; 60-69 =D; 0-59 =F. Advanced Placement and Concurrent courses are weighted on a 5.0 scale. Because of the rigor of the required curriculum and the small class size, Subiaco Academy does not report rank.

COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES: The Class of 2018 received more than 3.5 million dollars in merit based aid and accepted approximately 2 million dollars. 100% of seniors who applied to college were accepted to one or more institutions of higher education. 88.6% selected a 4- year bachelor program, 5.7% selected a 2-year institution or vocational program, and 5.7% entered the workforce.
