En una perspectiva moderna del turismo rural es imprescindible te- ner en cuenta el nuevo perfil de los viajeros y su interés de interac- tuar con la gente del territorio que visitan, apreciar aspectos de su Presentación PRESENTATION vida cotidiana, consumir productos artesanales y vivir experiencias únicas, más que simplemente visitar sitios y quedarse en cómodos alojamientos. Hoy ellos buscan vivir experiencias memorables y di- ferentes que resalten lo distinto, lo propio y la autenticidad del lugar que visitan. Es decir, buscan las experiencias que se adecuen de mejor forma a su “marca personal” Lo anterior, demanda cada vez mejores competencias a quienes ac- tuamos en turismo rural y acogemos a los visitantes en el territorio. Se requiere un recurso humano de calidad, que tenga acceso a la in- formación y a la vez capacidad de interpretación de la misma, como así también con capacidad de integrarse en asociaciones locales y nacionales que les permita formar equipos y redes con el objeto de responder de manera más robusta a las diversas necesidades de los viajeros, condición sine qua non para el éxito de nuestra actividad. Es así, como desde ACHITUR A.G., por más de 20 años, hemos tra- bajado sostenidamente por entregar alternativas que faciliten el conocimiento y las experiencias que tenemos en turismo rural, bajo la premisa cuando uno crece todos crecemos. Es en este contexto, que recogemos el esfuerzo realizado el año 2007 por el Instituto de Desarrollo Agropecuario (INDAP) a través de su Programa Nacional de Turismo Rural, del Ministerio de Educación a través del Programa Inglés Abre Puertas y de los microempresarios de turismo rural, para reeditar y actualizar el diseño del Diccionario de Turismo Rural Español – inglés que ofrece conectarnos bajo un idioma común con quien nos visitan del extranjero. Para ACHITUR A.G. es un honor rescatar este valioso instrumento de comunicación para la comunidad nacional y en especial para los emprendedores del Turismo Rural. PRESENTATION 7 Presentación For a modern perspective of rural tourism, it is very important to PRESENTATION keep in mind the new profile of the travelers and their interest to interact with people of the places they visit, appreciating the aspects of their daily lives, consuming artisanal products and staying in com- fortable accommodations. Today, travelers are looking for memora- ble and different experiences that bring to light the uniqueness and authenticity of the place that they are visiting. In other words, they are looking for experiences that best match their “personal brand”. This increases the demands for better skills and competencies for those of us who play a part in rural tourism and welcome visitors to that experience. This includes highly capable human resources, with access to information and an ability to interpret it, with the capacity to integrate into local and national associations which allows them to create teams and networks with the objective to respond in an impactful manner to the diverse needs of travelers, a critical requi- rement for the success of our activities. It is precisely in this way, that ACHITUR A.G. has relentlessly worked for over 20 years to deliver alternatives that facilitate the know-how and experiences that we have in rural tourism, under the vision of “when one grows, we all grow”. It is in this context, that we applaud and welcome the efforts under- taken in 2007 by the Institute of Agricultural Development (INDAP) through their National Program for Rural Tourism, the Ministry of Education through their program “English Opens Doors” and those of the rural micro-entrepreneurs, to revise and update the design of the Dictionary of Rural Tourism Spanish-English which allows us all to connect under the umbrella of a common language with all of those who visit us from abroad.
