CONFERENCE PROGRAMME 12th Annual Conference of the European Society of Criminology Criminology in the 21st Century: a Necessary Balance Between Freedom and Security Bilbao, 12 to 15 September 2012 Dear participants of the XII ESC Conference in Bilbao, Due to the large number of presentations received, the Conference will take place in two different venues: The BIZKAIA ARETOA (Main Venue), for all the plenary sessions, the ESC General Assembly, the opening & closing ceremonies and some panel sessions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The ELCANO Escuela de Empresariales-Bussiness School (Second Venue), for some panel sessions on Thursday and Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Please be aware of this information when checking about your presentations. It is provided in each of the panels of this booklet. You may find a map with the location of both venues in the next page. In its 12th edition, it will be held from 12 to 15 September 2012 at the Bizkaia Aretoa Building placed in Bilbao (Spain). The Conference will be hosted by the Basque Institute of Criminology (University of the Basque Country) and it will be a space for meeting, sharing and promoting knowledge transfer among European professionals who develop their teaching and research careers in the Criminology field. The Opening Ceremony will take place in the Bizkaia Aretoa (conference main venue). After the ceremony you are invited to a cocktail in the Bizkaia Aretoa hall, and in the Chillida and Axular rooms.
