The vehicles included in this product are intended as an introduction to this route. Other vehicles that are characteristic of the Gotthard line will follow shortly, especially historically valuable rolling stock from the good times of the Gotthard Railway. This work shows the beauty of the Gotthard Railway at its best. The user is advised to review this manual and, in particular, to observe the instructions on starting up and driving the locomotive, as well as the descriptions of the keyboard functions. System Requirements The Train Simulator 20xx must be installed on your PC so that Gotthard Panorama Express can work. If you encounter problems when driving with the 32-bit version, then try to start the TS with 64-bit version. Often this helps. Installation If you have the boxed version, insert the DVD into the drive and start the installer. In the download version you copy the downloaded file into any directory of your PC and start. After starting the installation program (Setup.exe), click on INSTALL and enter the installation code. The rest is automatic. After completing the installation, just click on FINISH and you're done. Registration of the game with STEAM is not necessary and not intended. If you want to install the Gotthard Panorama-Express on several PCs, carry out the installation separately on each device. Settings in the Train Simulator In the settings of the TS should be set necessarily: - In GRAPHICS = the controls scenery quality / scene density and visibility to 100% - In GAME = train control on "expert", automatically clutch and all types of couplings put switch - Input method = mouse / keyboard Help / Support If you have questions about installation, driving with the locomotive or the scenario, you write down these with the most accurate possible description of any problems or error messages [email protected] Support is only available via e-mail. >> page 3 of 34 Gotthard Panorama-Express Gotthard North > The Gotthard mountain route north and the Gotthard – Panorama - Express It is only the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel in 2016 that is first mentioned in the "Gotthard Bergstrecke". In the past, this was simply "the Gotthardbahn". The mountain route is today divided into the part "north ramp" and "south ramp". Both are connected by the 15- AIlometer-long Gotthard tunnel between Göschenen in the Uri Reuss Valley and Airolo, the highest place of the Ticino Leventina. The Gotthard Railway was built in the years to 1882. Special features of this route are: - Turning tunnels to overcome the great inclines - Gradient of the route Erstfeld-Göschenen almost continuously 27 per thousand - Narrow curve radii that still make the locomotives and rails problems today - The innumerable bridges, Lehnenviadukte, tunnels and paths on the steep mountain Much excitement with the passengers triggers a trip along the Urnersee and up to the Urner Oberland. Well-known feature is the church of Wassen, which you get to see 3 times during the trip. First uphill from the right, then also on the right side at the same height and the third time from the top on the left side. The Gotthardbahn has, as mentioned, many tight bends. Especially on the route from Gurtnellen up to Göschenen, with a gradient of 28 per thousand, this is due to the 6-axle locomotive to a problem with the maintenance. Because of these popularly called "rails planer" vehicles must be renewed tracks much faster than on the other routes. Prior to the opening of the base tunnel in 2016, the entire north-south traffic was routed along this route. The timetable provided a train sequence of 3 minutes each, for which the signal sections were kept correspondingly short. Likewise signal-alternating operation was possible on the whole mountain route, thus driving both on the mountain-side, as well as on the valley-side track in both directions. This allowed "flying overhauls", so at full speed a fast passenger train could overtake a slow, heavy freight train on the open track. This is still largely possible today, even if the track can no longer be changed everywhere. In 2016, after the opening of the base tunnel, it became quiet on the mountain route. The SBB reduced the passenger traffic by the route was served only hourly with a TILO Flirt the regional train Ticino-Lombardy. However, it often happens that in case of problems in the base tunnel suddenly again with all trains on the mountain route must be avoided. For maintenance reasons, turnouts were welded and rendered unusable, which today can lead to operational problems. What the future brings on this route must be revealed. Our track does not know these limitations, in the Train Simulator is still full change mode possible. A first highlight of the Gotthard route are the bridges above Amsteg-Silenen. - The Kerstelenbach bridge over the entrance to the Maderanertal - The Intschi Reuss Bridge, highest bridge of the SBB, (77 meters high) under the railway track is a pedestrian tunnel for the population of Ried - The Secken Viaduct in near of Gurtnellen, originally the first stone bridge on the Gotthard Particularly impressive is the route from Gurtnellen to Göschenen. With helical tunnels, the railway here overcomes a height difference of almost 400 meters. Viaducts, bridges, tunnels and galleries alternate here, a challenge for the maintenance of this route. Avalanches, >> page 4 of 34 Gotthard Panorama-Express Gotthard North rockfalls, landslides require constant monitoring. Here is an overview of this section: Gurtnellen on the left, 740 m above sea level, on the right at number 17 the height 1100 m above sea level at Göschenen 12 Legend: 1 Pfaffensprung - Reservoir, water intake for SBB power plant Amsteg 2 Häggrigenbach - Gallery, 92 m Läge, in the valley floor below 3 Muhren tunnel, 53 m long, between Pfaffensprung- and Muhren tunnel view of Gurtnellen station 4 Pfaffensprung- spiral tunnel, 1'476 m lang 5 Mühle tunnel, 88 m lang, after „untere Meienreussbrücke“ 60 m long 6 AIrchbergtunnel, 300 m long (Train passes under the church of Wassen) 7 Stahlloch tunnel, 40 m long 8 Leggistein – spiral tunnel, 1'090 m 9 Obere Meienreussbrücke 54m long and Meienkreuz tunnel 78 m long 10 Mittlere Entschigtalgalerie 185 m, mittlere Meienreussbrücke 122 m long 11 Obere Entschigtalgalerie 102 m 12 Kellerbachbrücke 70 m 13 Wassen station 14 Wattiger spiral tunnel, 1084 m 15 Rohrbach tunnel, 230 m 16 Keeper's house Eggwald 17 Rohrbach-Tunnel bridge (viaduct) 61m + entrance gallery, a special feature 18 Naxberg tunnel 1'570 m long, shortly before Göschenen station The Rohrbach Bridge is a special feature. Probably the only tunnel bridge in the world. To protect the train from falling avalanches, the bridge over the Rohrbach was built as a concrete tunnel and designed so that an avalanche can not harm the structure. >> page 5 of 34 Gotthard Panorama-Express Gotthard North Trains on the Gotthard north ramp: The "Gotthard Panorama Express", which gave its name to this additional package for the Train Simulator, is an SBB tourist special train introduced in 2016. It usually runs between Easter and the autumn days, in the morning from Lugano in the Ticino to Flüelen in the Urnerland and back in the afternoon. Between Flüelen and Lucerne, the journey is supplemented by connecting to a steamboat on Lake Lucerne. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, the train carried 3 panoramic cars 1st class, a 2nd class passenger car and a passenger car with windows that can be opened as photo cars. From 2019, the 2nd class will not be on offer anymore. After these "lean" years on the Gotthard mountain route, where only the FLIRT vehicles of Ticino's S-Bahn service ran hourly, it is planned that the changes for 2020 will bring life back to the Gotthard. From then on, trains going through the Südostbahn will connect the centers in the north with the cities in Ticino via the mountain route. Now we wish the TS engine driver a lot of fun while driving over the northern ramp of the mountain route.
