Faculty Positions in Physics / Tenure Track (2 x FT) The Leiden Institute of Physics intends to expand its research program through the appointment of two junior staff members and invites applicants for tenure track positions at the Assistant Professor level. We are seeking energetic researchers with outstanding qualifications who will build up their own research group, and who will contribute to shaping the future directions of research in Leiden.

The Leiden Institute of Physics unites the Kamerlingh Onnes Laboratory, the Huygens Laboratory and the Institute Lorentz, all housed in one group of buildings at the Sciences Campus of . The Institute has a long tradition of excellence in fundamental research in a broad range of subjects that currently comprises , nanoscience, (bio-) molecular physics, quantum optics, high energy & astroparticle physics, and the physics of biological and soft matter. The Institute fosters an international atmosphere with strong interactions among the various groups as well as with other departments from the Faculty of Science.

Applications You have a Ph.D. degree in physics and several years of experience at the postdoctoral level. You are a stimulating teacher who will take part in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preferably, your research interest connects with one of the current topics of research at our Institute; candidates with an interest in biophysics, complex electron systems, soft condensed matter physics, quantum optics, or particle cosmology are specially invited to apply. You are expected to be successful in raising research funds, and to contribute to management and organization of the Institute. You should fit in the research landscape at Leiden University and in the , and be eager to join in research collaborations. Appointments at a higher entry level are possible for exceptionally qualified candidates.
