Town Crier, George L. Sims delivered words of praise and encouragement to the new Mayor and Members of Council.

Call to Order & Official Welcome

Judy Smith, Municipal Clerk called the Chatham-Kent Inaugural Ceremony for the 2014 –2018 Council term to order. The Municipal Clerk extended a warm welcome to the Inaugural Meeting of the December 2014 through November 2018 Council of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

Introduction of Clergy and Judiciary

Don Shropshire, Chief Administrative Officer introduced Reverend Paul McPhail and the Honourable Justice Bruce G. Thomas. The Chief Administrative Officer thanked both Reverend McPhail and Justice Thomas for taking time to participate in the inaugural meeting.

Statement of Election:

The Municipal Clerk introduced the following Municipality of Chatham-Kent Council Members for the term 2014 to 2018:

Reverend Paul McPhail gave the opening invocation and remarks to Chatham-Kent Council.

The Honourable Justice Thomas addressed the Mayor and Council and provided words of encouragement and guidance as they take on this important leadership role.

Swearing in of Randy R. Hope, Mayor

The Honourable Justice Thomas administered the Declaration of Office to Randy Hope.

The Honourable Justice Thomas administered the Declaration of Office to each member of Council.

Messages from Members of Parliament

The Municipal Clerk read letters from Dave Van Kesteren, MP and Bev Shipley, MP, congratulating the new Council, as they were unable to attend the ceremony.

Messages from Members of Provincial Parliament

The Chief Administrative Officer read letters from Rick Nicholls, MPP and Monte McNaughton, MPP who were unable to attend the ceremony.

Mayor Hope gave his inaugural address.

Closing Prayer

Reverend Paul McPhail closed the ceremony with a prayer.

Adjournment

The Municipal Clerk advised that the ceremony was now complete.

The meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
