Psalmody and Prayer: Psalm 100

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Alleluia! Christ is risen. Christ is risen indeed. ! O come, let us worship and praise:

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come into God’s presence with singing.

Know that the LORD is God. It is God that made us, to whom we belong; we are God’s people, and the sheep of God’s pasture.

Enter gates of the LORD with thanksgiving, and God’s courts with praise. Give thanks to God, bless the name of the LORD.

For the LORD is good; whose steadfast love endures for ever, and whose faithfulness to all generations.

Our Lord and our God, we come before you with thanksgiving and praise, for you have created us as your people and you sustain us with your hand. Nourish us in your rich pasture and keep us in your steadfast love, that we may bless your name and serve you with gladness day after day; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Readings

A reading from Lamentations (3:21-25, 31-33):

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. For the LORD will not reject forever. Although he causes grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; for he does not willingly afflict or grieve anyone.

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

And a reading from the Third of John (1:2-6a, 11, 13-15):

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.

I was overjoyed when some of the friends arrived and testified to your faithfulness to the truth, namely how you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are walking in the truth. Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the friends, even though they are strangers to you; they have testified to your love before the church.

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil but imitate what is good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God. I have much to write to you, but I would rather not write with pen and ink; instead I hope to see you soon, and we will talk together face to face. Peace to you. The friends send you their greetings. Greet the friends there, each by name.

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

And in a reading from the of Matthew (28:20b), our Lord Jesus bids us:

“Remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ. A member of our gathering will please unmute and lead the four readings, plain and bold text.

Gospel

Blessed are you, Lord, the God of Israel, you have come to your people and set them free. You have raised up for us a mighty Savior, born of the house of your servant David.

Through your holy prophets, you promised of old to save us from our enemies, from the hands of all who hate us, to show mercy to our forebears, and to remember your holy covenant.

This was the oath you swore to our father Abraham: to set us free from the hands of our enemies, free to worship you without fear, holy and righteous before you, all the days of our life.

And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare the way, to give God’s people knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the ; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen

Paschal Blessing: Thanksgiving for Baptism

Ever-living God, author of creation, we give you thanks for your gift of water that brings life and refreshes the earth. We bless and praise you, for by water and the Word we are cleansed from sin and receive everlasting life. Join us again this day to the saving death of Christ; renew in us the living fountain of your grace; and raise us with Christ Jesus to live in newness of life; for you are merciful, and you love your whole creation, and with all your creatures we give you glory, through your Son Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever.

As many as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Alleluia.

On the first day of the week at early dawn, the women went to the tomb, taking spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel; and as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them: “Why do you seek the living among the dead? Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of man be delivered into the hands of sinful humanity, and be crucified, and on the third day rise.”

Paschal Blessing: Te Deum

You are God; we praise you.

You are the Lord; we acclaim you. You are the eternal Father; all creation worships you.

To you all angels, all the powers of heaven, cherubim and seraphim, sing in endless praise:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.

The glorious company of apostles praise you. The noble fellowship of prophets praise you. The white-robed army of martyrs praise you.

Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you:

Father, of majesty unbounded; your true and only Son, worthy of all worship; and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.

You, Christ, are the king of glory, the eternal Son of the Father. When you became man to set us free, you did not spurn the virgin’s womb. You overcame the sting of death, and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are seated at God’s right hand in glory.

We believe that you will come and be our judge.

Come, then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood, and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting.

Dismissal into the Day: Colossians 3:15-17

A reading from Colossians:

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing , hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to through him.

Go in peace: this is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
