FERNANDO BILANCIA Il palazzo della famiglia Aquilani di Roma a piazza di Ara Coeli Il palazzo che fu degli Aquilani, sinora mai studiato benché centralis- simo, sorge a Roma a piazza d’Ara Coeli 61. Gli Aquilani di Roma appartenevano ad una nobile famiglia pisana che ebbe fra i suoi componenti diversi cavalieri dell’ordine di S. Stefano2; alcuni suoi membri si trasferirono nella capitale dello Stato Pontificio nel secolo XVI, ove ricoprirono importanti cariche pubbliche. La testimonianza più antica della presenza a Roma di un componente della famiglia si fa risalire al 1539 ed è fornita dall’iscrizione posta su una lapide incisa nel 1736 nel pavimento della chiesa di S. Maria in Vallicella: in essa, al di sotto dello stemma di famiglia quasi completamente abraso (tav. XXVII), Ludovico Aquilani3 riferisce che nel 1539 il suo antenato Ludo- vico senior, quando era ancora in vita, eresse nella chiesa un monumento funebre a sè ed ai suoi discendenti4. Ma il confronto con tutte le altre noti- zie reperite, riguardanti la vita di Ludovico senior Aquilani (in particolare la data della sua morte avvenuta nel 1594) rende piuttosto improbabile che 1 C. La Corte De Felipe IV (1621-1665) Reconfiguración De La Monarquía Católica De La Monarquía Universal a La Monarquía Católica
Cubierta Tomo IV Vol 1_Maquetación 1 29/11/18 10:58 Página 1 Tras la muerte de Felipe II (1598) se inició un proceso con el que se quería anular la idea de Monarchia Universalis que defendía la Monarquía Hispana y a la que aspiraban las élites castellanas. El primer paso consistió en la subordinación de la Monarquía a la doctrina político-religiosa de la Iglesia Temas Católica para lo que fue necesario que una serie de teólogos de renombre fundamentaran esta teoría. Esto se acompañó con la pérdida de influencia J. Martínez Millán del monarca español en la curia romana, de manera que las exigencias R. González Cuerva Tomo o favores que se solicitaban al Pontífice no siempre se alcanzaban M. Rivero Rodríguez (nombramientos de cardenales) como antes, al tiempo que disminuyó la (dirs.) influencia hispana en los cónclaves que elegían a los papas. Otro paso fueron las numerosas guerras en las que se vio envuelta la Monarquía IV Hispana en las que se le disputaba su preeminencia política (Monarchia ) Universalis). La evolución de las Monarquías europeas, cada vez más Vol. organizadas administrativamente, más decididamente confesionales y con mayores recursos, provocó que la Monarquía Hispana no pudiera hacer frente con éxito a todas ellas, por lo que buscó alianza con el Sacro Imperio, 1 es decir, con la otra rama de la dinastía Habsburgo. En el pacto de Oñate de 1617 ambas ramas (Madrid y Viena) se comprometieron a actuar como una 1621-1665 sola ante los enemigos europeos. Esto supuso tantos problemas como ( soluciones: por una parte, los intereses de ambas ramas no siempre coincidieron dada la diferente situación social y geográfica de sus IV respectivos territorios; por otra parte, esta unión ponía como eje de autoridad y actuación a la dinastía (recordando al duque Rodolfo como fundador), pero no a la rama de Madrid, que se venía atribuyendo (bajo el espíritu castellano) el título de monarca universal. -

Mangani e L. Tongiorgi Tomasi (Ancona, il lavoro editoriale, 2013) PREFAZIONE Le Marche hanno avuto nei secoli numerosi personaggi che hanno primeggiato nelle arti, nella letteratura, nella musica, nelle scienze, nelle armi, vestito abiti religiosi non tutti raffi- gurati nel grande dipinto di Bruno d’Arcevia esposto nel pa- lazzo dell’Assemblea Legislativa. Uno di questi è il nobile principe Gherardo Cibo, nato a Ge- nova nel 1512, trasferitosi a Roma, dove intraprese viaggi per l’Europa. Dopo il Sacco dei Lanzichenecchi con la madre, la zia e la sorella visse fino alla morte nello stupefacente Rinasci- mento di Roccacontrada oggi Arcevia. L’assenza di Gherardo nel recente dipinto è anche dovuta al lungo silenzio calato con la sua morte, nel 1600. Ma Lucia Tongiorgi Tommasi dell’Università di Pisa e Giorgio Mangani editore con la pregevole, voluminosa pubblicazione illustrata, Gherardo Cibo dilettante di botanica e pittore di Paesi (Ancona, il lavoro editoriale) lo hanno “riportato in vita” nel 2013, nel cinquecentesimo anniversario della sua nascita. Siamo doverosamente ben grati ai curatori anche per questa molto significativa sintesi pubblicata nella collana “I Quader - ni del Consiglio”. Un lavoro così completo e prestigioso è stato accompagna- to da una adeguata promozione sostenuta dalla Regione Marche, dalla Fondazione Carifac, dal Comune di Arcevia e dall’Accademia Misena di Roccacontrada, Associazione cul- turale che riunisce i discendenti di molti altri illustri concit- tadini. -
