Lapp CSU Sacramento1 “I was wrong… I thought that there was a greater civic spirit but the evidence is that they voted because it was obligatory” -Chilean President Michele Bachelet, December 20172 Introduction During her first term in office, Chilean president Michele Bachelet approved of a law that solved a long-time dilemma: that since the end of the Pinochet regime, voting had remained compulsory, while voter registration was voluntary. While this situation had been universally condemned, a resolution took over twenty years to achieve. Modeling the problem, albeit loosely, as a Prisoner’s Dilemma helps illustrate the difficulty as well as how the stalemate was broken. In brief, changing the system necessitated two steps: changing voter registration and changing compulsory voting. Respective chapters provide an overview of each director’s career that includes mention of formative moments. Each chapter also includes a synthesis of the director’s thinking as distilled from personal interviews and theoretical works, followed by a methodological case study that allows for analysis of specific directing methods, thus illuminating the director’s beliefs in action. In each chapter, the author asserts that the director’s innovative thinking and creative practices constitute expansions of the theatrical artform. Finally, the author traces similarities across the directing approaches of the three directors, which suggest guiding ideas for expanding the theatrical artform. Chapter one explores the directing career of Andrea Giadach, with highlights including her acting experiences in La lluvia de verano (2005) and Mateluna (2012) and her iii directing projects Mi mundo patria (2008) and Penélope ya no espera (2014). Her beliefs about political theatre are illuminated through a directing case study of her 2019 production of El Círculo.

Mi elección de 1932, por Arturo Alessandri Palma 1.- Carlos Dávila, que formó parte de un gobierno de hecho, asumió después solo el Mando. Dimitió para entregarlo al Coronel don Bartolomé Blanche, quien nombró Ministro del Interior a Ernesto Barros Jarpa. Ambos inspirados en el deseo de restablecer el imperio de la Constitución y la ley, entregaron el Mando al Presidente de la Corte Suprema. También dictaron un decreto llamando a elecciones presidenciales para el 30 de octubre de 1932. Igualmente, debería elegirse Congreso. Disolución del Congreso Termal, repudiado por la opinión. Blanche resistió las exigencias que hicieron mis adversarios, en orden a que la proximidad de las elecciones favorecía mi candidatura.- 2. Fui proclamado candidato a la Presidencia de la República por diversas agrupaciones y a ellas se agregó el Partido Radical. Ese partido era presidido por don Gabriel González Videla, muy joven entonces, quien resistió las peticiones y halagos que se le hicieron para que no me apoyaran los radicales. Acepté la candidatura en una carta en que indicaba mi propósito de formar un gobierno de amplia base nacional, para emprender la obra de la restauración. Triunfé frente a 4 candidatos; un conservador, un liberal-democrático, un comunista, y uno de los elementos avanzados.- 3. Organicé el primer Ministerio con ciudadanos de gran preparación y respetabilidad, que eran para mí una garantía de éxito en la cruzada de restauración nacional.

Tras el final de la guerra, las modificaciones fronterizas entre Bolivia y Chile han sido objeto de disputas entre ambos Estados hasta la actualidad. La perdurabilidad de estas disputas se debe a la existencia de las perspectivas históricas de cada una de las partes sobre la guerra, las cuales han sido un elemento constitutivo de discursos que han contribuido a la proliferación del nacionalismo en sus respectivas sociedades. Para el desarrollo de este propósito, las principales herramientas que se utilizarán son los Estudios Multidisciplinarios del Discurso de Teun Van Dijk y las diferentes concepciones de nación y nacionalismo como ideologías transversales del discurso nacionalista.
