We fly nonstop from San Francisco to Honolulu. Upon arrival, we celebrate Mass at St. Augustine by the Sea, a beautiful church right in the center of Waikiki beach. After checking into our hotel, we enjoy free time to acclimate. This evening we gather together for our welcome dinner in a local restaurant Overnight at our hotel in Honolulu. Monday, September 9th –Day 2 This morning after breakfast, we will visit the magnificent Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace to celebrate Mass. It was completed in 1843, and is renown as the oldest continuously functioning Cathedral in the USA! Saint Damien was ordained a priest in this cathedral, in 1864, two months after his arrival in Honolulu. We continue to St. Patrick’s church to view a collection of artifacts belonging to Saint Damien including his carved meerschaum pipe, guava walking stick, vestments, chalice, and his pre dieu (prayer kneeler). These items were publicized during ’s cause for sainthood. We return to our hotel and enjoy an afternoon of leisure. Tonight, we will get a real taste of at the THE ROYAL HAWAIIAN AHAINA LUAU right on Waikiki Beach- a short walk from our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.

Tuesday, Sept 10th—Day 3 This morning after breakfast, we visit Pearl Harbor. We enjoy a 3-hour tour of the Arizona Memorial. We pay homage to the 2, 403 Americans who lost their lives and 1, 178 who were wounded. Eighteen ships were sunk or run aground, including five battleships. The Americans killed or wounded during the attack were non-combatants, since there was no state of war A PILGRIM'S when the attack occurred. We celebrate Mass at the Pearl Harbor Catholic Chapel on the JOURNEY travel with purpose Ame rican Naval Base! We return to our hotel for free time. Dinner on our own tonight. Overnight at our hotel. Wednesday, September 11th—Day 4 Today after breakfast, we tour the island! We head south to Diamond Head Crater and view the monument. We stop at the Hanauma Bay lookout, a pristine marine eco- system with colorful living coral reefs, and marine life. We continue to the famous Halona Blowhole lookout, the location of “From Here to Eternity”. Sea turtles are often spotted in these emerald green waters. Our next stop is the Pali Lookout, called by Mark Twain the “most beautiful view on Earth”. Finally, we arrive at the Valley of the Temples and enter the Byodo-in Temple, a photographer’s dream! It is a smaller-scale replica of the over 950- year old Byodo-in Temple in Japan. As we depart, we pass the Chinaman’s Hat, a picturesque islet located in Kaneohe Bay. We celebrate Mass at St. Peter and Paul Church in Waimea before stopping for our included lunch. We continue to Waimea Valley, the location of over 5,000 flowering plants and the most scenic waterfall on the island. Our last stop is the Dole Planation where we marvel at the many colorful varieties of pineapple species from all over Hawaii. Dinner is on our own tonight. Overnight at our hotel. Thursday, September 12th –Day 5 Today we depart our hotel early and enjoy a highlight of our pilgrimage. We fly to Kalaupapa on the island of Molokai, with Bishop Larry Silva and honor St. Damien and St. Marianne Cope. We journey by private plane and celebrate Mass at St. Philomena Church. We will also visit St. Damien’s first gravesite, St. Marianne Cope’s grave, Papaloa Cemetery, and the foot of the Kalaupapa Trail. We will stop together to eat our included lunch and then continue to St. Elizabeth’s Chapel and Convent before returning by plane to Honolulu. Dinner on your own tonight. Overnight at our hotel. Friday, September 13th, Day 6 Today after breakfast, the day is yours to relax on the beach, shop or further explore the island. We will also have the opportunity to attend Mass at St. Augustine by the Sea. Tonight, we come together for our farewell dinner at the renown Eating House 1849 by Roy Yamaguchi! We celebrate our pilgrimage and bid farewell to Hawaii. Overnight at our hotel.

Saturday, September 14th, Day 7 HONOLULU- SAN FRANCISCO After breakfast we will journey to the airport. We return home, relaxed and spiritually renewed.

TOTAL TOUR PRICE: The tour price is based on airfare, land rates and rates of exchange in effect October 25, 2018. All rates are subject to change without prior notice. Should the rates go up or down, an adjustment would be made prior to departure. Refunds CANNOT be granted for any accommodations, services or events that are not used nor if you deviate from the tour. If fewer than 35 pilgrims participate a price adjustment may be necessary.

FINAL PAYMENT DUE BY June 10, 2019. A valid form of photo identification is necessary for air travel ( includes passport, driver’s license or government identification). AIR TRANSPORTATION: Flight reservations are being held on United Airlines.

No stopovers are permitted. Once the tickets are issued, they are NON- TRANSFERABLE AND NON-REFUNDABLE. Any requests to change a ticket once issued are not guaranteed and could incur a reissue fee of $200 plus any fare differential.

DOMESTIC AIRFARE: For those who make domestic air arrangements to the originating city of this tour, your tour host and APJ strongly recommend the purchase of tickets that can be changed without heavy fees and penalties as our flight schedule is always subject to change. HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: Specially selected hotel based on twin occupancy with private bath. Single Room supplement of $850 will be charged where requested and available. If you do not have a roommate and APJ is unable to arrange one, you will be billed for the single room supplement. All singles are subject to availability. MEALS: Breakfast is included daily, plus two lunches and two dinners and the LUAU celebratory dinner. TIPS AND TAXES: Tips and taxes normally appearing on hotel and restaurant bills as service are included, as are all government and local taxes on hotels and meals, porterage of one suitcase per person.

One average sized suitcase not exceeding 50 lbs total weight and 62 linear inches (height plus width plus depth) is permitted throughout the trip on the bus.

NOT INCLUDED: Expenses and items not specifically mentioned in this brochure are NOT covered, including but not limited to: meals not listed and items of a personal nature such as laundry, wines, liquors, mineral waters, after dinner coffee or tea, sightseeing or services other than those specifically mentioned, tips and taxes mentioned above, excess baggage and insurance, etc. Airline may assess luggage fee of $30 per suitcase for checked baggage each way.

DEPOSITS AND CANCELLATIONS: All payments must be in U.S. Dollars. A deposit of $500 per person is required to secure reservation. Penalty from time of reservation to June 10th, 2019 is $800 per person. From June 10, 2019 to departure date - NO REFUND. BANK FEE: A fee of $50 will be charged for any check that is returned to us for insufficient or unavailable funds. DEVIATIONS: A service charge of $50 pp will be applied for any deviations made in tour, (where possible) plus any additional air or land charges incurred. TRAVEL INSURANCE: Optional Travel Insurance is strongly recommended for your trip. Cost of travel insurance for this trip starts at $176. LAND ARRANGEMENTS: The tour operator reserves the right to change the itinerary due to unforeseen emergencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES: APJ and the Catholic Voice, the organizer, and their representatives act only as agents for the tour members in making arrangements for hotels, transportation, sightseeing, restaurants or any other services in connection with the itinerary. They will exercise reasonable care in making such arrangements, however, they do not assume any liability whatsoever, for any injury, damage, loss, accident or delay to person or property because of any acts of war or terrorism, any act of default of any hotel, airline carrier, bus company, restaurant, company or person rendering any of the services included in the tours. The tickets, coupons, tariffs, rules or contracts currently in use by any carrier, hotel, restaurant or other contractor rendering services shall constitute the sole contract between such contractor and the tour member. APJ or the organizer, accept no responsibility for any damage or delay due to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown, quarantine, government restraints, weather or any other cause beyond their personal control. No carrier shall be responsible for any act, omission or events during the time passengers are not on board its own conveyance. The right is reserved to cancel or change itineraries or substitute services without notice and to decline to accept or retain any passenger at any time. In view of statutory or contractual limitations that may apply to personal injury or property damage losses the purchase of accident and baggage insurance is strongly recommended. SPIRITUAL GUIDE: If due to unforeseen circumstances spiritual guide is unable to travel, the right is reserved to substitute spiritual guide.
