Sunday, September 13th –Day 1 Today our pilgrimage begins! We fly nonstop from Oakland to Honolulu. Upon arrival, we celebrate Mass at St. Augustine by the Sea, a beautiful church right in the center of Waikiki beach and we visit the St. Damien museum. We enjoy an included lunch and free time to acclimate. This evening we gather for our welcome dinner. Overnight at our hotel in Waikiki. Monday, September 14th –Day 2 This morning after breakfast (included daily) , we will visit the magnificent Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace to celebrate Mass. It was completed in 1843, and is renown as the oldest continuously functioning Cathedral in the USA! Saint Damien was ordained a priest in this cathedral, in 1864, two months after his arrival in Honolulu. After stopping in the Cathedral bookstore, we continue to St. Patricks. Here we view a collection of artifacts belonging to Saint Damien including his carved meerschaum pipe, guava walking stick, vestments, chalice, and his pre dieu (prayer kneeler). These items were publicized during ’s cause for sainthood. We return to our hotel and enjoy an afternoon of relaxation. Tonight we get a real taste of , at the Polynesian Dinner Show! Tuesday, September 15th --Day 3 Today after breakfast, we tour the island of OAHU. We head south to Diamond Head Crater and view the monument. We stop at the Hanauma Bay lookout, a pristine marine ecosystem with colorful living coral reefs, and marine life. We continue to the famous Halona Blowhole lookout, the location of “From Here to Eternity”. Sea turtles are often spotted in these emerald green waters. Our next stop is the Pali Lookout, called by Mark Twain the “most beautiful A PILGRIM'S view on Earth”. Finally, we arrive at the Valley of the Temples and enter the Byodo-in Temple, a JOURNEY photographer’s dream! It is a smaller-scale replica of the over 950- year old Byodo-in Temple in travel with purpose Japan. As we depart, we pass the Chinaman’s Hat, a picturesque islet located in Kaneohe Bay. We celebrate Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Waimea before stopping for our included lunch. Our last stop is the Dole Planation where we marvel at the many colorful varieties of pineapple species from all over Hawaii. Dinner is on our own tonight. Overnight at our hotel. Wednesday, September 16th –Day 4* Today we depart our hotel early and experience a highlight of our pilgrimage. We fly to Kalaupapa on the island of Molokai, en route, weather permitting, we enjoy a spectacular view of the tallest sea cliffs in the world. We journey by private plane with Fr. Jayson or Bishop Silva and celebrate Mass at St. Philomena Church. We also visit St. Damien’s first gravesite, St. Marianne Cope’s grave, Papaloa Cemetery, and the foot of the Kalaupapa Trail. We will stop together to eat our included lunch and then continue to St. Elizabeth’s Chapel and Convent before returning by plane to Honolulu. Dinner on your own tonight. Overnight at our hotel. Thursday, September 17th—Day 5* Today enjoy a leisurely breakfast, because the day is yours to relax on the beach, shop or further explore the island. You have the option of walking to Mass at St. Augustine by the Sea. Tonight, dinner is on your own. Overnight at our hotel.

*NOTE : Depending on the size of our group, we may be subject to visitor restrictions on Kalaupapa. In order to comply some pilgrims may travel on Sept 17th to Kalaupapa and enjoy their free day on Sept 16th ( opposite of above schedule). Persons under 16 may not participate in the day trip to Kalaupapa.

Friday, Sept 18th—Day 6 This morning after breakfast, we visit Pearl Harbor. We see the Arizona Memorial. We pay homage to the 2, 403 Americans who lost their lives and 1, 178 who were wounded. Eighteen ships were sunk or run aground, including five battleships. The Americans killed or wounded during the attack were non-combatants, since there was no state of war when the attack occurred. We enjoy an included lunch and then continue to a local church to celebrate Mass. We enjoy some free time this afternoon. Tonight we celebrate our pilgrimage, as we gather together for our farewell dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight at our hotel.

Saturday, September 19th --Day 7 After breakfast we will journey to the airport. We board our non-stop flight from Honolulu to Oakland, returning home relaxed and spiritually renewed with memories to last a lifetime.

If payment is not received on time- you risk losing your deposit and place on this pilgrimage. AIR TRANSPORTATION: Flight reservations are being held on Hawaiian Airlines. No stopovers are permitted. Once the tickets are issued, they are NON- TRANSFERABLE AND NON- REFUNDABLE. Any requests to change a ticket once issued are not guaranteed and could incur a reissue fee of $200 plus any fare differential. Land-only rate available- call for details.

DOMESTIC AIRFARE: For those who make domestic air arrangements to the originating city of this tour, your tour host and APJ strongly recommend the purchase of tickets that can be changed without heavy fees and penalties as our flight schedule is always subject to change. HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: Specially selected hotel based on twin occupancy with private bath. Single Room supplement of $850 will be charged where requested and available. If you do not have a roommate and APJ is unable to arrange one, you will be billed for the single room supplement. All singles are subject to availability. MEALS: Breakfast is included daily, plus four lunches and two dinners and the LUAU celebratory dinner. TIPS TO TOUR MANAGER/GUIDES, DRIVERS OR DINING ROOMS STAFF OF $82 ARE NOT INCLUDED ( will be pre-collected and included in final billing). One average sized suitcase not exceeding 50 lbs total weight and 62 linear inches (height plus width plus depth) is permitted by Hawaiian Airlines and will require a payment of $30 at the airport each way.

DEPOSITS AND CANCELLATIONS: All payments must be in U.S. Dollars. A deposit of $500 per person is required to secure reservation. Penalty from time of reservation to June 13,, 2020 is $500 per person. From June 13, 2020 to departure date - NO REFUND. BANK FEE: A fee of $50 will be charged for any check that is returned to us for insufficient or unavailable funds. DEVIATIONS: A service charge of $50 pp will be applied for any deviations made in tour, (where possible) plus any additional air or land charges incurred. TRAVEL INSURANCE: Optional Travel Insurance is strongly recommended for your trip. Cost of travel insurance for this trip starts at $176. RESPONSIBILITIES: APJ and the organizer, and their representatives act only as agents for the tour members in making arrangements for hotels, transportation, charter flights, sightseeing, restaurants or any other services in connection with the itinerary. They will exercise reasonable care in making such arrangements, however, they do not assume any liability whatsoever, for any injury, damage, loss, accident or delay to person or property because of any acts of war or terrorism, any act of default of any hotel, airline carrier, bus company, restaurant, company or person rendering any of the services included in the tours. The tickets, coupons, tariffs, rules or contracts currently in use by any carrier, hotel, restaurant or other contractor rendering services shall constitute the sole contract between such contractor and the tour member.
